ABSTRACT

Cell division cycle 42 (Cdc42)has been shown as an important regulator of many biological processes.Studies have suggested the role of Cdc42 in the diseases of digestive tract, but the mechanisms remain unclear.More studies are needed to advance the knowledge of roles of Cdc42 in the pathogenesis of digestive tract diseases, which may lead to therapeutic improvements.

ABSTRACT

Stem cell research is a innovative technology that focuses on using undifferentiated cells able to self-renew through the asymmetrical or symmetrical divisions. Three types of stem cells have been studied in laboratory including embryonic stem cell, adult stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent stem cells derived from the inner cell mass and it can give rise to any fetal or adult cell type. Adult stem cells are multipotent, have the ability to differentiate into a limited number of specialized cell types, and have been obtained from the bone marrow, umbilical cord blood, placenta and adipose tissue. Stem cell therapy is the most promising therapy for several degenerative and devastating diseases including digestive tract disease such as liver failure, inflammatory bowel disease, Celiac sprue, and pancreatitis. Further understanding of biological properties of stem cells will lead to safe and successful stem cell therapies.

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the application value of aer-barium sulphate double contrast radiograph in digestive tract diseases diagnosis. Methods The author analyzed 197 cases' images retrospectively which had positive performance in radiograph and had been clinical defined in our hospital from January to June 2008. Results In all these cases, there are 83 cases origin from mucous membrane which include inflammation, tumor and anabrosis; 24 cases origin below mucous membrane which include interstitialoma, lymphoma and scleroderma; 38 cases mainly changed in the shape, structure and position of organs which include hiatus hernia, Oblique inguinal hernia, diverticulum, malrotation of intestine and megacolon; 29 cases mainly changed in the power and function of organs which include functional disorder of esophagus, mesentery-compressed syndrome funtional disorder of small intestine and irritable colon; 17 cases' performance caused by the factor outside intestinal canal which include mesentery shift, stomach shift and small intestine shift, and other cases which include fistula between esophagus and mediastinum, rectovaginal fistula, foreign body in esophagus and small intestine ascariasis. Conclusion Aer-barim sulphate double contrast radiograph is the best method to diagnose the digestive tract diseases because it has forte as follow: convenient, easy prepared, less painful, large-scale examine limit and reliable diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Berberine is an alkaloid initially isolated from some Chinese medicinal herbs, such as Rhizoma coptidis(Huanglian),preferable for its inexpensiveness and low adverse effects as a broad-spectrum antibiotic in the treatment of various infectious diseases.More and more investigations have shown that berberine has a great potential for the treatment of digestive tract diseases. This paper updates the recent discoveries in the clinical and basic studies of berberine for the treatment of digestive tract diseases.
