ABSTRACT

Abstract This study sought evidence of construct validity for the Brazilian versions of the Dyadic Adjustment Scale and Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale. A total of 448 individuals participated in the research, 253 women and 195 men from several regions of Brazil who had been cohabiting with their marital partners for an average of 14.7 years. Several proposed models for the measure were tested in Structural Equation Modeling. In the Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the four-factor and hierarchical models of the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale showed good overall adjustments. Evidence of factor, convergent, and discriminant validity were also found. Composite reliability revealed adequate levels of internal consistency. The Multigroup Confirmatory Factor Analysis demonstrated a strong measurement invariance model for men and women.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the status of the dyadic coping in spouses of young and middle-age cervical cancer patients undergoing synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and to explore the influencing factors in bi-directional of patients and their spouses. Methods:With the convenience sampling method, a total of 150 cervical cancer patients undergoing synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy who were hospitalized in the Radiotherapy Department of Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital from March 2021 to February 2022 and their spouses were selected. A cross-sectional study was conducted by the Dyadic Coping Inventory, the Lock-Wallace Marital Adjustment Test, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, etc. Besides, multiple linear regression was used to identify predictors of the dyadic coping in spouses of cervical cancer patients undergoing synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Results:The total score of dyadic coping, marital quality, general self-efficacy, anxiety and depression in spouses of cervical cancer patients undergoing synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy were (121.69 ± 19.67), (97.23 ± 25.05), (25.13 ± 5.19), (9.98 ± 3.46), (8.19 ± 4.06) points. The scores of anxiety and depression of cervical cancer patients undergoing synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy were (10.57 ± 3.60), (9.10 ± 4.12) points. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that factors of the patients′ anxiety and depression, spouse′s perception of marital quality, spouse′s general self-efficacy, changes in family relationship, family income, and period of radiotherapy were the main influencing factors ( P<0.01), which accounted for 55.7% of total variation. Conclusions:The level of dyadic coping in spouses of cervical cancer patients undergoing synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy was medium, the marriage quality remains to be further improved, and its influence factors involved in the bi-directional of patient and spouse, including patients′ anxiety and depression, the changes of the family relationship, period of radiotherapy, spouses perception of marital quality and self-efficacy and family income. Clinical medical staff can improve the level of dyadic coping in spouses of cervical cancer patients undergoing synchronous radiotherapy and chemotherapy by improving their cognition of disease, reducing the incongruence of dyadic illness appraisals, and taking multiple measures to reduce the economic burden felt of the spouses.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo investigate common dyadic coping (CDC) in linking with marital satisfaction and quality of life (QOL) in patients with brain injury and their spouses in a rehabilitation facility by using common fate model (CFM). MethodsFrom October, 2022 to June, 2023, 101 brain injury inpatients and their spouses in Beijing Bo'ai Hospital completed the questionnaire of Dyadic Coping Inventory, Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale and World Health Organization Quality of Life. ResultsThe level of CDC between patients and their spouses significantly positively correlated with their marital satisfaction for both partners (β = 0.814, P < 0.001), as well as correlated with their quality of life (β = 0.271, P = 0.038; β = 0.481, P < 0.001). For the dimensions of QOL, the physical, psychological, social relationship and environmental dimensions significantly positive correlated with the CDC for the spouses, and only psychological and social relationship dimensions for the patients. ConclusionFacing the stress of brain injury, the level of CDC within couples can positively predict their marital satisfaction and QOL, and effect seems stronger for the spouses. It is advisable to consider both brain injured patients and their spouses as a whole to promote psychological adaptation and improve rehabilitation outcomes.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Objective: the research was oriented to investigate the correlation between some executive functions (inhibitory control, risk-benefit calculation, cognitive flexibility, the planning ability, and decision making) and the general, dyadic and solitary sexual desire, sexual desire inhibition and disposition to sexual fantasies in a 17-to-30-year-old people sample. Method: An observational cross-sectional study in a purposive sample of 64 young college students, aged between17 and -30, who were in a couple relationship at the time of the study and gave their consent for their participation in the research. The participants completed the Neuropsychological Battery of Executive Functions and Frontal Lobes tasks (BANFE for its abbreviation in Spanish): Stroop, card games, card classification and Hanoi Tower, and it was administered the Inhibited Sexual Desire Test, the Sexual Desire Inventory (SDI-2) and the Scale of Attitude Towards Sexual Fantasies. Results: The results indicate a correlation between the executive functions and sexual desire; it was found a correlation between total and dyadic sexual desire and disposition towards sexual fantasies with inhibitory control; and the inhibited sexual desire was correlated to planning ability and inhibitory control. Discussion: Although the study presents some methodological limitations (size of the sample and need of a more rigorous validation of instruments in the Colombian population), the results confirm previous research findings, allowing to formulate new hypotheses in the field of sexuality and neurosciences. The study findings draw attention to the educational implications aimed to develop the executive functions in adolescents and young people to prevent risky sexual behavior.

ABSTRACT

Abstract This paper characterizes mother-baby interaction styles for the purpose of identifying dyadic bonding throughout the first year of life. The Forms of Interaction are emphasized as a central concept for the incorporation of the subject into communication and then to language. Records of natural interactions from eight dyads to six weeks, six months and one year of age identify the progressive constitution of the dyadic communication system. The elucidation of body signs and the emergence of emotional regulation at six weeks, the interplay with social scenes at six months, and the establishment of the dyadic semantic field at one year are salient features that intertwine during the process. Triangulation with the social environment is a constant within the interaction.

ABSTRACT

@#Evidence-based practice (EBP) has been regarded as the gold standard of clinical practice in the health profession. However, even though the importance of EBP is well documented in the nursing literature, in developing countries, its implementation remains a challenge. In addition to individual and organizational barriers to EBP implementation, the existence of the academician-clinician divide is a critical concern. This seeming disconnect has significantly hampered the translation of knowledge into practice. Hence, collaborative dyadic engagements between the academician and clinicians have to be nurtured. The Accelerating Research evidence translation through Dyadic Engagement (ARDE) Model, a pragmatic way of facilitating the enculturation of EBP, is proposed and collaborative efforts in solving clinically relevant nursing issues will pave the way for EBP to become an integral part of clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The objective of this research project was to explain marital stability on the basis of differentiation of self and dyadic adjustment. Participants were 262 Colombian men and women with civil or religious marriage, who were informed of the ethical aspects of the study. Differentiation of Self Inventory and the Dyadic Adjustment and Marital Instability Scale were applied. anova tests were run, as well as correlation analyses and two multiple linear regression models. Results indicated that men show a greater emotional reactivity than women, and that persons who had a civil marriage bonded more and presented a lower level of consensus than those with religious marriages. According to the results regarding correlations related to sex and type of union, a greater dyadic adjustment led to greater marital stability. Cohesion is the dimension that best explains marital stability, followed by dyadic satisfaction.

ABSTRACT

Coping is a complex process that shows the way an individual deal with stress and conflict. The efficacy of coping strategies depends on the individual's resources and his/ her cognitive evaluation, but it also depends on the interpersonal relationship, such as in a couple relationship. The aim of this study is to analyze the concept of coping and dyadic coping, based on excerpts of interviews of a qualitative research with heterosexual intact families of middle class in Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with pre-determined questions, following a guide. All the interviews were recorded. Content Analysis was used with the aim of understanding the coping in these couples. It was observed that couples dyadically establish different ways of coping and that stress, when shared, has its effects reduced by partnership and the presence of the spouse. It was concluded that couples choose certain patterns of coping and use them together, which points out to the need of analyzing the way how couples establish dyadic coping strategies, as these strategies are the couple's dynamic foundation for facing stress and daily conflicts.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Research in the field of social and psychological phenomena has aspects that are characterized by interdependence of different actors, such as the case of the relationships of couples. The aim of this article is to present the dyadic data analysis model from a study in the context of loving relationships to Brazilian scientific community. An empirical study, focusing on the interaction between aspects of obsessive passion and quality dimensions in the relationship, was performed with 212 Brazilian couples. A particular emphasis is given to the assembly of the database, which may have the individual structure, the dyadic structure or even the pairwise structure. The results show a step by step guidance of the main stages of dyadic analysis. In additional, we presented considerations about passion and qualityfor both members of relationship. Although not limited to this theme, the dyadic analysis model is an important tool for the study of romantic relationships.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Introduction Early detection of epilepsy by the review of large electroencephalographic (EEG) recordings is very stressful, time-consuming, and subjective for neurologists. Several automatic seizure detection systems have been proposed in the literature to solve this problem. Methods This study proposes two complementary wavelet-based approaches for detecting epileptiform paroxysms in EEG signals. First methodology applied the wavelet multiresolution analysis (MRA) to filter non-epileptiform activity in long-term EEG. Second methodology used the wavelet dyadic scalogram to analyze which scales were related to the epileptiform paroxysms. For tests, 65 wavelet functions were selected between daubechies, biorthogonal, symlets, reverse biorthogonal and coiflet wavelet families in order to evaluate their performance. Results For MRA, it was noted a better performance by using the db4 function, by reaching 48.30% of energy with 8 wavelet coefficients, 0.717658 of correlation and 36.799 of root mean square error (RMSE). For wavelet dyadic scalograms, were chosen bior3.9 and rbio1.5 functions, by reaching 77.98% of sensitivity, 94.08% of specificity, 87.87% of efficiency and 0.9613 of area under the curve (AUC value) by using bior3.9. Conclusion The presented approaches are highly complementary for a whole automatic seizure detection system by using the MRA as pre-processing stage to filter non-epileptiform activity, and wavelet dyadic scalogram for extracting desired features from filtered EEG signals.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the dyadic coping and intimacy in gynecological cancer patients and their partners, and to explore the association between the two aspects. Methods:A total of 180 postoperative couples with gynecological cancer from 4 tertiary hospitals were investigated with Dyadic Coping Inventory (DCI) and Short Marital Adjustment (MAT).The relationship between couples, dyadic coping and intimacy were analyzed with the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM).Results:APIM result showed that in the actor effect patients' and spouses'supportive dyadic coping, delegated dyadic coping and common dyadic coping were positive associated with their own intimacy (B =1.77-4.41),patients'and spouses'negative dyadic coping were both adversely associated with their own intimacy (B =-2.81,-2.66).The partner effect showed that patients' supportive dyadic coping and delegated dyadic coping were both positive associated with spouses'intimacy (B =1.00,4.07),spouses'delegated dyadic coping and common dyadic coping were both positive associated with patients' intimacy (B =2.67,2.60),patients' and spouses'negative dyadic coping were negatively associated with partner'intimacy (B =-1.67,-1.40).Conclusion:It suggests that the dyadic coping may be associated with both patients'and partners' intimacy.
