ABSTRACT

In 1982 the nephrologist Raphael Osheroff, 45, filed suit against Chestnut Lodge Clinic for negligence, because he was not indicated drug therapy, who could have caused him a speedy recovery from his depressive symptoms and, instead, they simply submit him to psychoanalytic psychotherapy for sevens months, despite the obvious progressive deterioration of his condition. The scientific, professional and ethical impact of the Osheroff case in the practice of psychiatry were controversial, being the most significant the epistolary debate sustained between Gerarld Klerman and Alan Stone.

ABSTRACT

For patients suffering from allergic rhinitis (AR), general practitioners (GPs) are often their first source of medical advice. It is one of the top-ten reasons for a visit to the primary care clinics and AR was estimated to be 10-40% of the total patient visits in about 50% of the primary care clinics. The standard of management for AR among GPs is thus a key outcome assessment of AR management and implementation of international guidelines in general healthcare practice.
