ABSTRACT
En el 2004 y 2005 en el servicio de Medicina Física y Rehabilitación del Hospital militar Central se examinaron 213 pacientes y 313 nervios con sospecha de lesión de nervio periférico por trauma. El objetivo fue determinar la severidad de las lesiones, su evolución, las causas más comunes y los nervios más lesionados mediante estudios de neuroconducción y electromiografía. En promedio se realizó el examen 9.7 meses (295 días) después de la lesión. La edad promedio fue de 26.8 años. 6.5% de ellos eran mujeres y 93.5% hombres. La mayor parte de los pacientes fueron soldados. Los nervios más lesionados fueron el nervio cubital (68 sin combinación con mediano y/o radial, 80 en total), el mediano (52), y en miembros inferiores el ciático poplíteo externo (36). La causa más común fue la herida por arma de fuego. Los nervios examinados en control mostraron en su mayor parte evolución positiva.
From 2004 to 2005, in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation service, at Hospital Militar Central, 213 patients and 313 nerves were examined, with suspicion of pheripheric nerve lesion due to trauma. The objective was to determine the severity of lesions, its evolution, most common causes and most damaged nerves, studying their Neural Conduction and Electromyography. In average, the exam was done 9.7 months (295 days) after the lesion. The standard age was 26.8 years; 6.5% were women and 93.5% men. Most of the patients were soldiers. The most affected nerves were the cubital nerve (68 without compromise of the radius, 80 in total), the median (52), and in the limbs the external popliteal sciatic (36). The most common cause was gun fired wounds. Most of the controlled examined nerves, showed a positive recovery.
