ABSTRACT

@#The aim of this study was to obtain data of medical emergencies at the non-hospital based private dental practices in Petaling district of Selangor, Malaysia. Ninety out of 281 identified main practitioners of non-hospital based private dental practices had agreed to participate. A standardised questionnaire forms consisting of four parts including demographic data, emergency equipment and drugs available, occurrence of medical emergencies and training of dental practitioners. All data retrieved were analysed using the Statistical Programme for Social Science (SPSS) version 22.0 (SPSS Inc., 1999). Some of the clinics (28.9%) had reported experiencing medical emergencies events. The most common emergency event noted was syncope (42.2%), followed by hypoglycaemia (27.7%). Majority of the events occurred in the dental surgery room (84.3%), after completion of treatment (31.3%) and were associated with dental extraction procedures (61.4%). Only nine of the clinics (3.3%) were equipped with emergency trolley and none were prepared with a defibrillator or automated external defibrillator (AED). It was also found that 32.3% of all clinics do not have any emergency drugs. All of the practitioners received basic life support training before graduation and 52.2% received supplementary training after graduation. In conclusion, emergency medical events do occur, but majority of dental practices involved in this study were not well equipped to manage these emergencies. It is important to have a standardised national guideline to ensure a safe and well-prepared dental setting during any adverse medical events.

ABSTRACT

Objective To enhance the intact rate of the equipment for emergency treatment and life support. Methods Closed-loop management was realized by introducing PDCA cycle, developing regulation, process and plan, strengthening personnel training,implementing inspection and maintenance,executing quality control and etc.Results The intact rate of the equipment for emergency treatment and life support was increased from 60.2% to 100%. Conclusion The hospital is improved in emergency treatment,and passes the recheck of the grade-A tertiary hospital.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the centralized management mode of cleaning disinfection and for ventilator, monitor, injection pump and infusion pump in our hospital so as to achieve scientific management and further development for hospital.Methods: The qualified rates of ventilator, monitor, injection pump and infusion pump, and satisfied degree of various department for them were analyzed after the centralized management was implemented.Results:After the centralized management was implemented, the cleaning qualified rates of ventilator, monitor, injection pump and infusion pump were, 99.25%, 99.78%, 99.47% and 98.94%, respectively. And the satisfaction scores of various departments for the application of equipment, equipment allocation and equipment recovery were significantly higher than those in 2013 (t=4.18,t=4.62,t=3.86,P<0.01).Conclusion: After the centralized management for routine emergency equipment is carried out by the cleaning disinfection center, the cleaning qualified rates of equipment and satisfaction of various departments has been significantly increased. Therefore, it is worthy to be applied and promoted.

ABSTRACT

Objective To decrease the fault rate and increase the clinical application management of the defibrillator.Methods The allocation,training,daily maintenance,quality control,emergency treatment and etc of the defibrillators in some hospital were summarized,and a set of clinical application management method was proposed for the defibrillators.Results The allocation and maintenance of the defibrillators were improved,and the rate for the completion of records reached 100%.The fault rate of the defibrillators was 0,and A requirements for first-aid and life support devices in grade assessment issues were fulfilled.Conclusion It's proved the management method is feasible for eliminating the deficiencies in clinical application management of the defibrillator.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To establish the emergency medical equipment rental center, not only can reduce the repeated purchase for medical equipment, but also can achieve resource sharing, reduce equipment maintenance cost, and improve utilization efficiency.Methods: To establish emergency medical equipment rental center, which adopted lease mode and centralized management mode to use equipment. Department of medical engineering managed this center and this department is responsible to ensure every clinical department can use equipment by lease method.Results: The center has optimized the resource allocation of hospital, obviously reduced equipment input cost, improved utilization rate of medical facility since it were established. This mode provided reliable service for clinical departments.Conclusion: The established rental center of emergency medical equipment has changed the traditional management mode to a new feasible mode which can improve centralized management for medical devices, reduce waste for medical resource and achieve resource sharing.

Objective:According to the existing hospital static mixing method, the problem of dynamic allocation model for half a year period is put forward, in order to solve emergency equipment safe are deployed in a timely manner. Methods: The hospital can allocate all emergency equipment evaluation, grade and tabulation, according to the score for sorting, system of sorting table provides emergency center allocate use half a year. Results: According to the deployment of table realized in emergency equipment safety in time in case of major events are deployed and able to skillfully use effect. Conclusion: The use of emergency equipment dynamic allocation model can not only improve the social benefit of the hospital, and reduce the pressure of the functions of the hospital departments.

ABSTRACT

Objective Investigations regarding the status of pediatric emergency and relevant facilities distribution in our province represent a crucial prerequisite for further setting up emergency network and improving our first aid capabilities.Methods We had conducted relevant surveys on the medical institutions within our province,including lever 2 and lever 3 hospitals as well as maternal and child care service centers.Results The feedback from 151 institutions indicated that they had 4485 pediatric beds and treated 5 308 severe patients in 2010.Among all,38 hospitals had ventilators for children and 4 hospitals could perform pediatric blood purification treatment.However,no one had mastered the children ECMO technique.Conclusion There is an inadequacy of some emergency equipments and the development in emergency and first aid is uneven.There is a strong request to launch and develop the blood purification and bronchfiberscope techniques,in combination with improvements in the first aid capabilities and emergency network.
