ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To explore the weaknesses of emergency management in PIVAS of our hospital, improve the ability to handle emergencies, and provide reference for risk management in PIVAS. METHODS:Frequency and severity of emergency events were evaluated comprehensively by the workers in PIVAS. Emergency events vulnerability was analyzed in PIVAS of our hospital by calculating risk score, classify risk degree and risk control method was developed for management. RESULTS:There were 8 serious risk emergency events,5 high-risk ones,5 moderate-risk ones,4 low-risk ones and 2 mild-risk ones in PIVAS of our hospital. The high-risk events included information system and drug dispensing machine failure, cytotoxic drugs overflow, drug delivery to wrong department, etc;risk scores of these emergency events were 129.81,109.92,102.01,86.49,respectively. Through emergency event training, standard operation, regular check and other management measures, drug delivery to wrong de-partment,cytotoxic drugs overflow, failures of equipment and information systems were decreased by 81.82%(4 times vs. 22 times),75%(1 time vs. 4 times)and 63.5%(15 times vs. 40 times),which compared between first half year of 2015 and 2014. CONCLUSIONS:Based on the results of vulnerability analysis, relevant emergency plans and training exercises in departments have been improved and the occurrence of relevant emergency events can be disposed effectively.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the timeliness of detection and reporting on public health emergency events, and to explore the effective strategies for improving the relative capacity on those issues. Methods We conducted a retrospective survey on 3275 emergency events reported through Public Health Emergency Events Surveillance System from 2005 to the first half of 2006. Developed by county Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a uniformed self-administrated questionnaire was used to collect data, which would include information on the detection, reporting of the events. Results For communicable diseases events, the median of time interval between the occurrence of first case and the detection of event was 6 days (P25=2, P75=13). For food poisoning events and clusters of disease with unknown origin, the medians were 3 hours (P25=1, P75=16) and 1 days (P25=0,P75=5). 71.54% of the events were reported by the discoverers within 2 hours after the detection. Conclusion In general, the ranges of time intervals between the occurrence, detection or reporting of the events were different, according to the categories of events. The timeliness of detection and reporting of events could have been improved dramatically if the definition of events, according to their characteristics, had been more reasonable and accessible, as well as the improvement of training program for healthcare staff and teachers.

ABSTRACT

Objeetive To study the public health emergent events(PHEE)in Fujian province, from 2004 to 2007.Methods Descriptive and analytic methods were Used to analyze the PHEE in Fujian province aecording to the internet.based surveillance reports. Results From 2004 to 2007.there were 304 emergency events being surveyed.Of all the events, there were 7(2.30%)belonged to serious-degree of grade II,57(18.75%)to gradeⅢand 240(78.95%)t0 gradeⅣ,but with no grade I.Results showed that the attack rate in affected population WaS 25.82‰.the mortality rate was 0.08‰and the fatalky rate Was 0.32%.The numbers of emergency events decreased 2.82%on average.each year.A total number of 169(55.60%)events occurred in schools with 71(23.36%)in the countryside.Numbers due to infectious disease-born Was 233(76.64%)including avian flu, cholera and dengue fever were predominant pathogens of the grade II and grade emergency events.57(18.75%)of the events was due to food poisoning. The epi.garph showed that there were two peaks.I.e.in Mar-Apr and Sep.contributed 43.1%to the total number of events. Conclusion Emergency events showed a stable decrease in FujJan province with communicable disease and food poisoning the two major sources and more commonly seen in schools and countryside. We suggest that the government and community pay more attention to the emergency events of avian flu, cholera and dengue fever.
