ABSTRACT

The evaluation of pancreatic function includes the evaluation of endocrine function and exocrine function.Insufficiency of pancreatic endocrine function can lead to pancreatic related diabetes. The pancreatic endocrine function is often evaluated by fasting blood glucose, two hours postprandial blood glucose, and glycosylated hemoglobin.Pancreatic exocrine dysfunction can lead to abdominal pain, abdominal distension, fatty diarrhea, malnutrition, weight loss and other manifestations.Pancreatic exocrine dysfunction is often atypical, and it is difficult to accurately evaluate pancreatic exocrine function, so the evaluation of pancreatic exocrine function is particularly important. There are indirect and direct methods to evaluate pancreatic exocrine function. At present, the most commonly used direct detection method is the detection of pancreatic function under intravenous anesthesia endoscope.Fecal elastase-1 is a commonly used indirect detection method at present.

ABSTRACT

Objective To reveal pathogenesis and etiology in adrenal incidentaloma. Methods The clinical data of 116 patients with adrenal incidentaloma from January 1, 2015 to January 1, 2017 were retrospectively analyzed. Results In 116 patients with adrenal incidentaloma, 49 cases (42.2%) were male and 67 cases (57.7%) were female; there were 14 cases (12.1%) aged from 20 to 40, 63 cases (54.3%) aged from 40 to 60, and 39 cases (33.6%) > 60 years. Forty-three patients (37.1%) were found by health examination, 26 patients (22.4%) were found because of hypertension, 27 patients (23.3%) were found by CT detection because of other diseases, and 20 cases (17.2% ) were found because of other reasons. The result of endocrine function examination showed that nonfunctioning adrenal tumor was in 56 cases (48.3%); functional adrenal tumor was in 44 cases (37.9%), among whom primary aldosteronism was in 27 cases, Cushing syndrome was in 10 cases, and pheochromocytoma was in 7 cases;nonfunctioning non- adenoma was in 16 cases (13.8% ). Conclusions It is frequent that the adrenal incidentaloma is found by health examination. The patients with adrenal incidentaloma should examine the endocrine function and identify the benign or malignant. And if necessary, surgical treatment should be performed.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effect of ectopic pregnancy tubal resection or common disease retention on female reproductive endocrine and menstrual traits. Methods 286 patients with ectopic pregnancy lapa-roscopic operation were selected.According to the different treatment methods, the patients were divided into resection group (n =199),retention group 87 cases,in surgical operation on the third day and the thirtieth day and tested for female reproductive hormone (P,LH,FSH,E2 )and human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).Results Resection group in the third day after surgery of FSH[(8.5 ±4.9)IU /mL]was significantly higher than that of preserving group[(3.9 ± 0.9)IU /mL],with significant difference (t =5.44,P 0.05).30 days after the surgery, there was no significant difference between the two groups in FSH,LH,E2 ,P and HCG (t =0.92,0.77,1.02,0.65,all P >0.05),but at the age of more than 40 years old and bilateral absence of fallopian tube in patients with, menorrhagia and menstrual cycle change obviously, and female ovarian endocrine function to reduce the clinical symptoms. Conclusion Tube resection has some influence on the ovarian function of tubal ectopic pregnancy, especially older, lack of bilateral fallopian tube.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of rosiglitazone on pancreatic β cells in a rat model of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods 36 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham operation group(SO group),SAP group, and rosiglitazone pretreatment group(ROSI group).SAP model was induced by retrograde infusion of 5% sodium taurocholate into the biliopancreatic duct.SO and SAP group were injected 10% dimethyl sulfoxide partes aequales(DMSO) (0.2 ml/100 g)by femoral vein 30 mins piror to the surgery.ROSI group were injected rosiglitazone (6 mg/kg)instead of 10% DMSO.Rats were killed 12 h after surgery and the level of serum amylase was detected.Pancreas tissues were taken for pathological examination under light microscope and insulin in situ staining was done. The ultrastructure of β cells was observed with transmission electron microscope. Results Amylase level and pathologic score were increased significantly in SAP group than in SO group (P < 0.05).Compared with SAP group, amylase level and pathologic score reduced significantly for rats in ROSI group (P < 0.05).Compared with SAP group, the morphological structure of β cells in ROSI group was more completed and insulin in situ staining was darker observed by electronic microscopy. Conclusion ROSI exerts protective effect on morphology and endocrine function of pancreatic β cells in rats with severe acute pancreatitis.

ABSTRACT

Objective Our aim is to study the clinical manifestation and endocrine disorder of the bulimia nervosa (BN). Methods 2 cases of BN were clinically analysed. Results Most of the patients were anorexia before the disease happened, with many aspects of endocrine disorders. Conclusions BN and amenorrea could result from hypothalamus function disorders. However, the alteration of corticoid, thyroid hormones may be results of emotion stress and body weight loss.

ABSTRACT

Aim To study the effects of Metformin (MF) on endocrine function of pituitary-gonad axis in rats. Methods The serum hormone concentration was measured with radioimmunoassay (RIA) and the morphology of gonad endocrine cells was observed with electron microscope. Results MF(135 mg?kg-1?d-1,ig,14 d)decreased serum T concentration in male rats and serum LH concentrations in female rats significantly(P

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical features and evaluate the diagnostic methods for adrenal tumors and bilateral adrenal hyperplasia (BAH) before surgical operation. Methods Clinical data of 45 cases with adrenal tumor and BAH were analyzed. Results Of 45 cases,15 were with aldosterone producing adenoma (APA),3 with of BAH,8 pheochromocytoma,4 adrenal tumor with hypercortisolism and 15 adrenal incidentaloma. Conclusions Before operation, endocrine function examinations of adrenal tumors are necessary for preventing preoperational complications.

ABSTRACT

To observe the influence of kidney transplantation (KT) on erectile and endocrine function, we evaluated the PBI, penile pulse volume plethysmography, RigiScan and endocrine study before and after KT in 21 patients. We also interviewed with these patients or their sexual partners before KT. at 3 months and 6 months after KT. 7 cases (33%) were improved, 8 cases (38%) were same and 4 cases(19%) were aggravated in sexual desire and erectile function and 2 cases (10% ) had been suffered from erectile dysfunction since 19 months and 6 years prior to KT. The PBI was changed from 0.97 +/- 0.09 to 0.95 +/- 0.16 and it was not a significant difference. The penile plethysmography was not a good screening test in the evaluation of erectile function in KF. But the Rigiscan could detect all of the tested aggravated cases and it was thought to be a good screening test. In the endocrine studies, testosterone and FSH were decreased and LH and prolactin were increased before KT but testosterone and LH were significantly decreased after KT. It was thought to be the influence of KT and immunosuppressive agent (cyclosporin A). In conclusion, sexual desire and erectile function may be improved by the KT and most reliable screening test was Rigiscan. Endocrine function may be affected by the KT and cyclosporin A.
