ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare efficacy and safety of 308-nm SQ light-emitting diode (LED) light versus 308-nm excimer light in the treatment of facial vitiligo. Methods:Patients with stable facial vitiligo were retrospectively collected from Department of Physical Therapy, Hospital of Dermatology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from June 2018 to June 2020, who received treatment with 308-nm SQ LED light (LED group) or 308-nm excimer light (excimer light group). The treatment was performed once or twice a week, and patients who had received more than 8 sessions of treatment were included in the analysis of efficacy and safety. Statistical analysis was carried out by using chi-square test. Results:Totally, 68 patients with 90 lesions were enrolled into the LED group, including 36 males and 32 females, aged 25.01 ± 13.37 years; 20 patients with 28 lesions were enrolled into the excimer light group, including 13 males and 7 females, aged 27.15 ± 14.30 years. After 8 and 16 sessions of treatment, there was no significant difference in the response rate between the LED group (23.33%, 46.67%, respectively) and excimer light group (14.29%, 46.43%, χ2 = 1.05, < 0.001, respectively, both P > 0.05). During the treatment, 36 (52.94%) patients in the LED group developed persistent erythema, 17 (85%) in the excimer light group developed persistent erythema or blisters. The incidence of adverse reactions was significantly lower in the LED group than in the excimer light group ( χ2 = 16.43, P < 0.001) . Conclusion:Compared with the 308-nm excimer light, the 308-nm SQ LED light showed similar effect but higher safety for the treatment of facial vitiligo.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of 308 nm excimer light combined with compound triamcinolone acetoniazole cream in the treatment of chronic hand eczema. Methods From February 2016 to August 2017,62 patients with chronic hand eczema admitted to the First People's Hospital of Taicang were divided into two groups using random digital tables, with 31 cases in each group. The treatment group was given 308nm excimer light combined with compound triamcinolone acetoniazole cream. The control group was treated only with compound triamcinolone acetoniazole cream. The effect after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment were determined in both two groups. Results After 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, the effective rates in the treatment group were 35.48% and 87.10%, respectively, which in the control group were 29.03% and 61.29%, respectively. After 8 weeks of treatment, the difference between the treatment group and the control group was statistically significant ( χ2 =5.39, P <0.05 ). Conclusion 308 nm excimer light combined with triamcinolone acetoniazole cream in the treatment of chronic hand eczema has good clinical effect and less adverse reactions, and the recurrence rate is low.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the efficacy of monochromatic excimer light and narrow-band ultraviolet in the treatment of facial vitiligo patients. Methods Seventy-nine patients with facial vitiligo were randomly divided into MEL group and NB-UVB group. The MEL and 311-nm NB-UVB were applied respectively. Both groups were treated twice a week, total 30 times. Results After ten times treatment, the effective rate of MEL group and NB-UVB group was 39.02% and 15.79%,respectively.There was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05).After twenty times treatment, the effective rate of MEL group and NB-UVB group was 70.73% and 44.74%,respective ly,with significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05).After thirty times treatment, the efficacy of MEL group and NB-UVB group was 87.80% and 84.21 %,respectively. No statistical significance was found between the two groups (P > 0.05).The efficacy of both groups showed that disease duration was a negative factor. It seemed that shorter duration of facial vitiligo would obtain better clinical effect.MEL and NB-UVB were safe and effective for the progressive vitiligo. In both groups, few adverse effets in some patients were observed. Conclusions The clinical effect of MEL in treating facial vitiligo is more rapidly than NB-UVB,but as the treatment times increase, the efficacy becomes similar. Both methods are safe in treating facial vitiligo of different stages.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and tolerance of monochromatic excimer light (MEL) 308 nm in the treatment of vitiligo. Methods Seventy-seven patients were enrolled in the prospective and open clinical study. Two-hundred and one lesions were subjected to local phototherapy of MEL 308-nm once a week for 3 to 6 months. Results Of these lesions, 86.6% obtained repigmentation at different degrees. The repigmentation was more obvious in lesions on the head, face, neck and trunk than in those on the limbs or extremities. Moreover, patients with generalized and segmental vitiligo got a better improvement than patients with other types of vitiligo. Conclusion MEL 308-nm is effective in the treatment of vitiligo without obvious adverse effects.
