ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the effect sense of security and self-control on parent-child cohesion and externalizing problem behaviors in primary and middle school students. Methods:A total of 1 402 primary and middle school students were investigated with the problem behavior frequency scale(PBFS), family adaptability and cohesion scale(FACES-CV), security questionnaire(SQ) and brief self-control scale(BSCS). SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS v2.16 were used for statistical analysis, and common method deviation test, Pearson correlation analysis and intermediary effect analysis were used in the analysis.Results:Parent-child cohesion of primary and middle school students was positively correlated with security and self-control ( r=0.279, 0.303, both P<0.01), which was negatively correlated with externalizing problem behaviors ( r=-0.154, P<0.01). Security was positively correlated with self-control ( r=0.567, P<0.01). Security, self-control and externalizing problem behaviors were negatively correlated ( r=-0.147, -0.250, both P<0.01). The security and self-control of primary and middle school students played a partial mediating role between parent-child cohesion and externalizing problem behaviors. The mediating effect consisted of two paths: one was parent-child cohesion-self-control-externalizing problem behaviors, the other was parent-child cohesion-security-self-control-externalizing problem behaviors. The effect values of these two paths accounted for 20.52% and 20.26% of the total effect respectively. Conclusion:Parent-child cohesion not only directly affects the externalizing problem behaviors of primary and middle school students, but also indirectly affects the externalizing problem behavior through the independent mediating effect of self-control and the chain mediation of security-self-control.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the influence of parental monitoring, peer delinquency and psychoticism on externalizing problem in adolescents. Methods 2 504 adolescents aged 10-16 from 7 provinces in China participated in the surveys with externalizing problem, parental monitoring, peer delinquency and psychoticism were measured. The mediating effect of peer delinquency and the moderating effect of psychoticism were tested by stepped multiple linear regression and Bootstrap procedures. Results ①The scores of maternal monitoring, paternal monitoring, psychoticism, peer delinquency and externalizing problem were (4.02±1.00),(3.49±1.19),(3.10±2.77),(1.25±0.27) and (5.10±4.63) respectively;②Parental monitoring negatively predicted externalizing problem in adolescents(βmother =-1.240,βfather =--0.981,P<0.05).③Peer delinquency played a partial mediating role in the relation between parental monitoring and externalizing problem, the percentages of mediating effect to total effect respectively were 25.0% and 26.2%.④The mediation effect of peer delinquency was moderated by psychoticism (a1b3mother =-0.016,a1b3father =-0.014,P<0.05).Conclusion Psychoticism moderated the mediation effect of peer delinquency in the relation between parental monitoring and externalizing problem in adolescents.

ABSTRACT

Objective to investigate the characteristics of externalizing problems behavior and related factors in new generation migrant workers so as to provide a decision making basis for consensus propaganda, psychological assistance and intervention. Methods A total of 1 340 new generation migrant workers(male 862,femal 478) were extracted from the gathering areas of mi grant workers in the three cities of Chongqing,Shenzhen and Hangzhou, the questionnaire survey and evaluation were performed by adopting the Youth Self-Report (YSR),Harter Self-Perception Profile(HSPP),Lum Emotional Availability of Parents (LEAP),Perceived Availability of Social Support Questionnaire(PASSQ) and Psychological Acculturation Scale(PAS).Results The tested externalizing problems were slightly higher than the non-clinical tested reasonable scoring range, the peer support had statistical difference between sexes(P< 0.01),the personal ability and comprehensive self value had significantly positive correlation (P < 0.01),and both were negatively correlated to the externalizing behavior problems(P<0.01),parents' emotional availability and support showed significantly negative correlation to externalizing behavior problems(P<0.01),the working environment support was negatively related to externalizing behavior problems(P<0.05).The prediction of personal effectiveness to externalizing prob lems behavior was obvious(P<0.01),the social acceptance(P<0.01) and overall self value(P<0.01)were the predictive factors of externalizing problems behavior, and the work environmental support had the predictive effect on externalizing problems behavior (P<0.05).Conclusion Personal ability, parents' emotional availability and support, work environmental support and social acceptance are correlated with externalizing behavior problems in new generation migrant workers. The overall self value, social accept ance, mother's emotional availability and parents' emotional support have significant prediction, while the work environmental support has a predictive effect on externalizing behavior problems.
