ABSTRACT

The number of foreign students studying Chinese medicine in China has always been the first in the rank of natural sciences foreign students studying in China. They are mostly from developing countries, keen on Chinese traditional culture, and prefer practical specialties such as acupuncture. The general education of overseas students majoring in traditional Chinese medicine can help them learn professional knowledge and integrate into Chinese society more rapidly, which promotes the global spread of Chinese culture. In the nearly 20 years of general education for foreign students, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has made clear the teaching ideas and guidelines, strengthened the construction of teachers, attached importance to the feedback of students, adjusted the curriculum with the times, encouraged the experience complementary among brother colleges, and further promoted international exchanges. Especially, the courses such as the History of Chinese Medicine, have achieved good teaching results. To actively carry out general education for foreign students in Chinese medicine colleges and Confucius Institutes of Traditional Chinese Medicine around the world is not only conducive to the cultivation of talents of traditional Chinese medicine in the world, but also an effective way to inherit and develop traditional Chinese medicine.

ABSTRACT

To study the application and effect of Role-playing in the teaching of Medical Immunology for foreign students.Role-playing method was tried using in the practical teaching of the pathway of complement activation and the related components in the"Medical Immunology" in Grade 2014(83 foreign students),and the teaching effect was analyzed and evaluated.In the study,we found that role-playing teaching method could not only help foreign students develop their initiative and comprehensively understand the difficulties of knowledge,but also cultivate their teamwork and interpersonal communication skills.At the same time,role-playing improved teaching efficiency and quality.Role-playing is a teaching method that meets the learning habits,characteristics,contents and rules of foreign students,which can improve the teaching quality and effect.

ABSTRACT

Ophthalmology belongs to microsurgical subject and anatomy is intricate. In clinical practice, students are required to skillfully use eye examination equipment. The foreign students from Medical School of Vienna University are eager to learn and know theoretical knowledge very well. Department of ophthalmology has developed specific and individualized teaching plans according to the characteristics and needs of foreign students. Through the configuration of high quality teachers, the practice teaching is ensured. Chinese and foreign students are encouraged to share their knowledge and form a study group. Opportunities for hands-on practice of ophthalmology are increased by using Wetlab condition. Problem-based heuristic teaching is used to stimulate students' learning initiative. Through these teaching measures, the students' quality of clinical practice has been enhanced, the teaching level of clinical ophthalmology has been improved and sustainable development has also been achieved.

ABSTRACT

With the rapid growth of foreign student education in China,specific development goals have been put forward. Although size of bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery students(referred to as MBBS students) is ranked the first place among foreign students with other majors in China,it faces difficulties,including decline in the quality of students,chaotic curricula,weak faculty team and a lack of managerial personnel. Seven colleges and universities in Jiangsu province which enroll MBBS students must strengthen cooperation and collaborative development,to increase contribution to the overall size and quality of foreign students education in the province and to jointly build the MBBS student education brand of‘study in Jiangsu’.

ABSTRACT

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal de los 7 estudiantes extranjeros que matricularon en la Facultad de Estomatología de la Universidad Médica de Santiago de Cuba durante el curso escolar 2010- 2011, relacionado con los criterios en torno a su integración al proceso docente-educativo, con vistas a precisar algunas opiniones sobre su formación profesional, particularmente en el área clínica y la residencia estudiantil, incluyendo los valores que, a su juicio, contribuyen a desarrollar la estrategia educativa de la carrera. Todos los alumnos consideraron que presentaban una formación satisfactoria; casi la mitad de ellos refirieron sentirse bien en el área de beca y que participaban en las actividades culturales, deportivas y sociales programadas por la Federación Estudiantil Universitaria, de manera que existe una integración adecuada de estos educandos al proceso docente educativo.


A descriptive and cross-sectional study on the criteria around the integration to the teaching-educational process of the 7 foreign students who were registered in the Stomatology Faculty of the Medical University from Santiago de Cuba was carried out during the course 2010-2011. It was aimed at specifying some opinions on their professional training, particularly in the clinical area and the student residence, including the values that, in their opinion, contribute to develop the educational strategy of the career. All the students considered that they had a satisfactory training; almost half of them referred to feel well in the scholarship area and that they participated in the cultural, sport and social activities programmed by the University Students Federation, so that an appropriate integration exists from these students to the teaching educational process.

ABSTRACT

The concrete methods and experiences for foreign students in case study in the past decades were introduced in this article. We emphasized on teaching students in accordance with their aptitude and step by step, explaining the profound things in a simple way and giving attention to different students' capabilities during teaching. In the practice, we surely felt that case study will bring more advantage than traditional teaching methods, motivate students and improve the capabilities to understand the course content.

ABSTRACT

<B>Objective</B><BR>The number of foreign students coming to Japan continues to increase year by year. The majority of those students are from China. Besides social problems and insurance difficulties, cultural differences are an underlying cause of their health problem. The aim of our research is to evaluate the health behavior and health status of students from China who are living in Japan with the objective of providing recommendations for improvement of health care.<BR><B>Method</B><BR>A survey of students was conducted using questionnaires. The target for this study is Chinese students compared with domestic students at the same university in Japan. The contents of the questionnaire are related to; attribute attitude toward health and sickness, belief in health, mental and physical health status, social support, health behavior, and fitness activity.<BR><B>Results</B><BR>The rate of collected questionnaires was 35.7% (107/300) from Chinese students and 47.7% (143/300) from Japanese students. The average age of Chinese students was 24.5 years old and average duration of their stay was three years. Chinese students had high consciousness about maintaining good health. They obtained social support from friends, parents, acquaintances, family members other than parents and not much was obtained from school related people. As for health habit, female students were more likely to practice good health habits than males.<BR><B>Conclusions</B><BR>1.Chinese students had high consciousness about maintaining good health.<BR>2.Chinese students living in a foreign culture are highly aware and concerned about their health status but they are not in a position to obtain sufficient social support from university. It is vital for them to secure imminent social supports from now on.<BR>3.Differences in responses by gender were evident in the group related to health habits.

ABSTRACT

We analyze the characteristics of foreign students and the problems in biochemistry teaching process by summarizing the practice of medical biochemistry teaching for undergraduate foreign students in Wenzhou Medical College. After careful thought on these problems,we brought forward some ideas and methods which may be useful to reform the teaching mode and improve the teaching results of medical biochemistry for foreign students.
