ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of four-handed technique in light cured resin veneer in the treatment of dental fluorosis. Methods Eighty outpatients with dental fluorosis in our hospital from January 2011 to January 2014 were randomly divided into two groups: 40 in the study group were treated with four-handed technique and another 40 in the control group with one-doctor manual operation. The two groups were compared in terms of treatment duration and curative effect. Result The treatment duration in the study was significantly shorter than that of the control group and the curative effect was significantly better than that of the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion As for the light cured resin veneer in the treatment of patients with dentalfluorosis in the process , the four-handed technique is better than one-doctor manual operation.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo evaluate the therapeutic efficiency and outcomes of vertical condensation of warm gutta-percha obturation using the four-handed technique.MethodsA split-tooth model constructed with lateral grooves and depressions was used to compare vertical condensation of warm gutta-percha obturation with and without the four-handed technique.Respectively 10 times of obturation were done in the four-handed group and the independent operation group. The operation time and defect replication quality were recorded.Evaluation of defect replication quality was on an ordinal scale 0 to 2 grade based on how much each defect was replicated. The results were statistically analyzed.ResultsThere were signiticant differences in treatment time between the four-handed group and theindependent operation group,as well as in treatment outcomes between two groups.ConclusionsUse of the four-handed technique can improve therapeutic efficiency and outcomes of vertical condensation of warm gutta-percha obturation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To describe the effect of four-handed technique on the prevention of cross infection in department of stomatology. Methods Patients (300 cases) in department of stomatology were collected and randomized into the observation group (using four-handed technique) and the control group (not using four-handed technique) with 150 cases in each group from May 2003 to October 2004. One patient was served by one doctor and one nurse in the treatment process. Sterilization isolation system was strictly implemented in order to prevent cross infection. The control group received routine treatment. The incidence rate of infection was compared in the two groups. Results Ten patients (6.7%) were infected in the control group. Only 3 patients (2.0%) were infected in the observation group, which was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions Four-handed technique played an important role in the prevention of cross infection by blocking the iatrogenic infection propagation.
