O papel do gerontólogo nas universidades da terceira idade durante a pandemia de covid-19: estudo de caso / Gerontologist's role in the universities of the third age during covid-19 pandemic: case study

As Universidades da Terceira Idade (U3As) geralmente visam promover o envelhecimento saudável com atividades educacionais e sociais, mas desde 2020, o isolamento social da pandemia de Covid-19 tem exigido uma reorganização desses programas. Este artigo discute as possibilidades de intervenções e praxes em uma U3A para o enfrentamento das estratégias de mitigação da pandemia, na perspectiva de estagiários de Gerontologia que atuam em uma U3A, comparando os momentos antes e durante a pandemia. Para tanto, este relato de experiência descreve dois estudos de caso, sendo um relacionado ao estágio profissional anterior e outro durante a pandemia de Covid-19. Os dados foram coletados por meio de diagnóstico organizacional observacional e análise de documentos. Para a interpretação do material, foram realizadas análises documentais e de conteúdo, efetuando a comparação e discussão dos dados. Este projeto foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa (CEP) e seguiu todos os preceitos éticos. Os resultados demonstram que o cenário de atuação do gerontólogo é amplo, mas o letramento digital, as informações sobre políticas de inclusão digital, profissionais capacitados para trabalhar com esse público e o fortalecimento de vínculos tornaram-se mais urgentes na pandemia de Covid-19.(AU)

Universities of the Third Age (U3As) generally aim to promote healthy ageing through educational and social activities, but since 2020, the social isolation of the Covid-19 pandemic has required a reorganization of these programs. This article discusses the possibilities of interventions and practices in a U3A to face the new reality of pandemic mitigation strategies, from the perspective of Gerontology interns who work in a U3A, comparing the moments before and during the pandemic. To this end, this experience report describes two case studies, being one related to internship before and the other during the Covid-19 pandemic. Data were collected through observational organizational diagnosis and document analysis. For the interpretation of the material, documentary and content analyzes were performed, making the comparison and discussion of the data. The Research Ethics Committee (CEP) approved this study. The results demonstrate that the gerontologist's role is broad, but digital literacy, information on digital inclusion policies, professionals trained to work with this audience, and strengthening professional bonds are more urgent in the Covid-19 pandemic.(AU)

O papel do bacharel em Gerontologia na Universidade da Terceira Idade: um relato de experiência / The role of gerontologist at a university of the third age: a case study

Este artigo apresenta o relato da experiência do Bacharel em Gerontologia em uma Universidade da Terceira Idade em município do interior do Estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Tem o objetivo de descrever a atuação deste profissional neste contexto e discutir sobre os diferentes modelos de universidades da terceira idade em diferentes partes do mundo. Uma revisão sistemática duplo-cega da literatura atual disponível foi realizada e sintetizada. Além disso, a experiência de plano de gestão do gerontólogo é descrita e comentada, embasando sua atuação nas Universidades da Terceira Idade.

This paper presents the Gerontologist's practice at a University of the Third Age in the countryside of SP/BR. The aim is to describe the gerontologist professional portfolio in this context and discuss the different models of Universities of the Third Age in different parts of the world. A systematic review of the current available literature was conducted and synthesized. In addition, the management plan conducted by undergraduate students on Gerontology is described and commented in order to discuss the practice at Universities of the Third Age.

Desafios da formação em Gerontologia / Challenges of Professionalization in Gerontology

A profissionalização do Gerontólogo, profissional de caráter generalista que integra saberes biopsicossociais na gestão da velhice e do envelhecimento, é uma tarefa difícil que deve ser abraçada por todos os envolvidos na sua formação. O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma reflexão sobre a trajetória da profissionalização do Bacharel em Gerontologia no Brasil, e no exterior, levantando os principais desafios e as possíveis estratégias para o seu reconhecimento como profissão.

The professionalization of gerontologist, professional with a generalist background that is able to integrate biopsychosocial knowledge in the management of old age and aging, is a difficult task that should be embraced by all involved in his/her academic formation. This paper aims to present a reflection on the trajectory of the professionalization of Bachelor in Gerontology in Brazil and other countries, raising the main challenges and possible strategies for its recognition as a profession.

Vulnerabilidade na velhice: definição e intervenções no campo da Gerontologia / Vulnerability in old age: definition and interventions in the field of Gerontology

O objetivo desse artigo é refletir sobre as diferentes facetas da vulnerabilidade na velhice e discutir os tipos de intervenção que poderiam ser mobilizadas para prevenir, minimizar e ou postergar o efeito dos eventos que implicam em maior vulnerabilidade no final da vida. Os estudos apresentados indicam a vulnerabilidade na velhice solicitam ações multifatoriais e respostas sociais de curto, médio e longo prazo, beneficiando as diferentes coortes de idosos.

The aim of this paper is to discuss different aspects of vulnerability in old age and discuss the types of intervention that could be mobilized in the Gerontology field to prevent and minimize or delay the effect of vulnerability at the end of life. This study points to the fact that vulnerability in old age requires multifactorial actions and social responses in short, medium and long term, in order to help different cohorts of elderly.

Atuação do gerontólogo em atividades no programa de universidade aberta à terceira idade / Role of gerontologist in activities in open university program for third age

Esse estudo teve como objetivo apresentar as possibilidades de atuação do Bacharel em Gerontologia - Gerontólogo, nas atividades de educação permanente por meio da Gerontologia educacional. Foi conduzida revisão bibliográfica não sistemática da literatura. A revisão indicou que o cenário de atuação do Gerontólogo nas Universidades Abertas à Terceira Idade envolve desde a criação, supervisão, planejamento e condução de programas para promoção da saúde, até a avaliação das atividades, com a finalidade de assegurar que elas preparem as pessoas para seu próprio envelhecimento e para a aposentadoria, com metodologia apropriada ao contexto cultural e econômico do público-alvo,incentivando o seu empoderamento e a sua participação social. A atuação nas UnATI solicita um olhar para a Gerontologia Educacional, que vem ajudar a construir a velhice, oferecendo ao idoso a oportunidade de mudar o rumo de sua vida e redirecionar suas ações com liberdade de escolha.

This study aimed to present the possibilities of action of BA in Gerontology-gerontologist, in the activities of continuing education through the Educational Gerontology. We conducted a non systematic literature review. This review indicated that the scene of action of the gerontologist in Open Universities of the Third Age involves since the creation, oversight, planning and conducting programs to promote health, to review the activities, in order to ensure that they prepare people for their own aging and retirement, with appropriate methodology to economic and cultural context of the target audience, encouraging empowerment and social participation. The acting in UnATI requests a look at the Educational Gerontology, which is helping to build the old age, giving the elderly the opportunity to change the course of your life and redirect your actions with freedom of choice.
