ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of combined fluoxetine and aniracetam tablets in the treatment of senile depression and its effects on serum total bile acid (TBA) and norepinephrine (NE) levels. Methods:A total of 100 older adult patients with depression who received treatment in Heze Medical College from January 2019 to December 2019 were included in this study. They were randomly assigned to receive either fluoxetine tablets alone (control group, n = 50) or fluoxetine and aniracetam tablets (study group, n = 50). All patients received two months of treatment. Clinical efficacy, scores of the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAMA) and the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD), adverse reactions, and serum TBA and NE levels were compared between the two groups. Results:Total response rate was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group [96.0% (48/50) vs. 84.0% (42/50), χ2 = 4.00, P = 0.045]. HAMD and HAMA scores post-treatment in the study group were (5.85 ± 1.81) points and (4.81 ± 1.57) points, respectively, which were significantly lower than those in the control group [(11.65 ± 2.65) points, (10.85 ± 2.84) points, t = 10.84, P < 0.001; t = 11.16, P < 0.001). Serum NE level was significantly higher in the study group than in the control group [(138.68 ± 16.35) ng/L vs. (127.17 ± 14.34) ng/L, t = 3.17, P = 0.002]. There were no significant differences in serum TBA level [(5.85 ± 0.63) μmol/L vs. (5.91 ± 0.65) μmol/L] and the incidence of adverse reactions (8.00% vs. 6.00%) between the study and control groups ( t = 0.39, P = 0.692; χ2 = 0.15, P = 0.695). Conclusion:The combined therapy of fluoxetine and aniracetam tablets for the treatment of senile depression is safe and highly effective, does not affect metabolic function and thereby deserves clinical application.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare the sleep quality of depressive patients with and without anxiety symptoms. Methods: Hamilton Depression Scale-17 (HAMD-17), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Scale (PSQI) were used to assess the level of patients' depression, anxiety and sleep quality. The HAMA scores of patients ranged from 0 to 6 were in the anxiety-free group, 7 to 13 in the anxiety-prone group, and 14 or more in the anxiety group. Results: The PSQI scores of the group with anxiety were higher than those of anxiety-prone group and anxiety-free group (both P=0.000). Partial correlation analysis showed that, after controlling HAMD-17 scores, the correlation between HAMA scores and PSQI scores reduced gradually with the increase of anxiety level. The multiple linear regression analysis showed that sleep disorder was still an independent risk factor for depression after controlling HAMA score. Sleep latency, sleep time, hypnotics and daytime dysfunction were independent predictive factors of HAMD-17 score (all P<0.05). Conclusion: In patients with depressive disorder, the severity of sleep disorder increases with the increase of anxiety level. In the case of comorbidity anxiety, sleep disorder is still an independent risk factor for depressive disorder, and the relationship between depressive symptoms and sleep disorder indicators of different dimensions suggests that sleep disorder plays a comprehensive role in the pathogenesis of depressive disorder.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of moxibustion in treating perimenopausal syndrome (PMS).Method Totally 108 PMS patients of yang deficiency or yin deficiency constitution were randomized into a treatment group of 56 cases and a control group of 52 cases. The treatment group was intervened by moxibustion, while the control group was by medication. The modified Kupperman Index (KI), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) were observed before and after treatment for comparison.Result The KI score, HAMA score, SCL-90 total score, and SDS score were significantly changed in both groups after intervention (P<0.01,P<0.05). After treatment, the KI score, HAMA score, SCL-90 total score, and SDS score in the treatment group were significantly different from that in the control group (P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion Moxibustion is effective in treating PMS, and it can improve the anxiety and depression symptoms of the patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the effects of music intervention on moods of patients with anxiety disorders(AD).Methods Eighty inpatients with anxiety disorders were randomized into music intervention group(n=40)and control group(n=40)in equal number. The control group received the regular treatment and nursing care, while the music intervention group received the regular treatment and nursing care plus music intervention. Before and after music intervention, the two groups were compared in terms of the scores by Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)and Hamilton depression scale(HAMD).Results The scores of the intervention group by HAMA and HAMD were significantly lower than those of the control group at the time points of weeks 1,2 and 4 after music intervention (P<0.01).Moreover,the scores of both the groups showed a tendency of decrease. At week 4,the incidence of anxiety disorders in the intervention group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions The music intervention may effectively relieve anxiety and depression in patients with anxiety disorders. It can enhance the patients’coping capability and improve the patient’s symptoms,so it is of significance for their recovery.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To investigate and compare the special psychologic characteristics of the post-traumatic epilepsy patients and their spouses. Methods The complete clinical data of 244 patients and their spouses were retrospectively and constractively analyzed. There were two distinct groups because of the etiology: group A including 122 patients of post-traumatic epilepsy and their spouses, and group B including essential epilepsy. Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90), Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA), Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) were used to evaluate the psychologic status of objects. Results All of the single-item score of SCL-90 were significantly higher than the China norm (P<0.01) in both groups, and the score in group A was higher than that in group B. But the characteristics of the abnormal data were diffierent in patient from in spouse. The scores of the post-traumatic patients were higher than that of the spouses in 3 items, and lower in 5 items. Specially the depression and anxiety emotion of the spouses were more obvious than the patients in group A (P<0.01).Conclusion Both the patient and spouse have the conspicuous psychosomatic disorder, and the appearance is diffierent from each other. The psychosomatic disorder of post-traumatic epilepsy patient and spouse is more conspicuous than the essential epilepsy.

ABSTRACT

Of the 30 subjects who completed the study, the l7 males and l3 females have ages ranging from 26-45 years in the majority of subjects. The composition of subjects showed 57 % with positive history for treatment for emotional problems. Sixty-three percent had taken psychotropic drugs. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale ranges done on the subjects revealed a score of l9 to 40 (mean of 27.2). Buspirone efficacy had been documented with a noted improvement in terms of the degree of psychopathology in the third week of study following treatment with Buspirone. In terms of subject evaluation, the subjects felt that the drug helped most in 37 %, very much in 25 %, moderately in 25 %, and a little in l3 %. As to physicians evaluation of therapeutic effect, 30 % had complete of nearly complete remission of all symptoms, another 53 % had partial remission of symptoms. With regards to side effects 15 % had side effects which slightly interfered with subjects functioning consisting of dizziness in one subject, heaviness of head, and dryness of the mouth. Otherwise, these side effects have not stopped the subjects from doing their usual activities
