ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the effects of conventional drug therapy combined with acupuncture and conventional drug therapy on the morbidity of post-stroke depression and recovery of neurological function in patients with acute stroke, and provide new ideas for prevention and treatment of post-stroke depression.@*METHODS@#Sixty patients were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases in each one.Conventional drug therapy was given in the control group;on the basis of conventional drug therapy, acupuncture was applied at Baihui (GV 20), Sishencong (EX-HN1), Neiguan (PC 6), Hegu (LI 4), Taixi (KI 3), etc. The treatment was given once every day, 6 times a week for 4 weeks in the two groups. The 24 Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD), modified Edinburgh-Scandinavian stroke scale (MESSS) scores were recored before treatment, after 1 week of treatment, and after 4 weeks of treatment in the two groups, and the morbidity of post-stroke depression was compared between the two groups.@*RESULTS@#After 1 week of treatment, the HAMD scale scores of the two groups were higher than those before treatment (both 0.05). The MESSS scores were lower than those after 1 week of treatment in the two groups (both <0.05), and the score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (<0.01). After 4 weeks of treatment, the morbidity of post-stroke depression in the observation group was 23.3% (7/30), which was lower than 66.7% (20/30) in the control group (<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Early acupuncture intervention on stroke patients can not only promote the recovery of neurological function, but also reduce the morbidity of post-stroke depression effectively.

ABSTRACT

@# Objective To observe the depressive symptoms in patients with burn injury of middle and small area at different periods.Methods65 patients with burn injury of middle and small area (<39%) were assessed with Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) at acute stage and convalescence respectively, and the results were compared with those of 41 normal subjects (control group).ResultsThe factor scores and total score of HAMD in the patients with burn injury at acute stage and remission were obviously higher than those in the control group ( P<0.05~0.01). For the patients with burn injury, the scores of depressive symptoms, difficulty in falling asleep, early wake-up, psychiatric anxiety, somatic anxiety, constitutional symptoms, sexual symptom, doubt of disease, circadian change, dispersonalization, feeling of despair, decline in ability feeling, and inferiority feeling at convalescence were obviously higher than acute stage ( P<0.05~0.01), but the scores of superficial sleep, excitation, gastrointestinal symptoms, reduce in body mass, paranoid ideation and obsession-compulsion were markedly lower than acute stage ( P<0.05~0.01).ConclusionThe depressive symptoms are totally different in patients with burn injury of middle and small area at different periods, and psychological interventions should be in pertinence.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the feature of depression in patients with Parkinson's disease(PD) and the related factors. Methods:Use Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD) to measure the level of depression of 60 patients with PD.Functional state of the patients was evaluated by Motor Dysfunction Rating Scale for Parkinson's Disease(MDRSPD).Results:29 cases(48.3%) were identified to have depression, among whom 40% were of minor or moderate degree,8.3% were severe. The main manifestations of depression were anxiety/body,retardation,hopelessness and insomnia.Scores of hopelessness, retardation, and insomnia factor were significantly higher in the rigidity and tremor combining rigidity patients than those in tremor patients. The level of depression positively correlated with the duration of disease and degree of dysfunction due to PD,and it has no relation with age, sex, and education. Conclusions:The incidence of depression was higher in patients with PD.PD patients of different clinical types had different characteristics of depression. The rigidity type is more likely to get depression. The degrees are closely related to duration of disease and degree of dysfunetion.
