ABSTRACT
O hemangioma constitui uma neoplasia benigna de origem vascular, resultante da morfogênese alterada dos vasos sanguíneos, aparecendo com maior freqüência na infância. Acomete mais as mulheres, sendo mais comum na região de cabeça e pescoço, atingindo aproximadamente 60% dos casos. Na cavidade bucal, pode acometer lábio, mucosa jugal e língua. Essas lesões podem ser vulneráveis a ulcerações e sangramentos, tornando-se um transtorno estético e com risco considerável de hemorragia, sobretudo quando de natureza arterial. Uma paciente com 70 anos de idade foi submetida a exame físico e imaginológico para confirmar a natureza vascular de uma alteração na borda lateral de língua. Tomando cuidados adicionais referentes à técnica cirúrgica bem como o diagnóstico preciso dos vasos que nutriam a lesão, essa paciente foi operada para remoção da afecção, com resultado satisfatório no pós-operatório.
The hemangioma is a benign tumor of vascular origin resulting from the altered morphogenesis of the blood vessels and appears most frequently in childhood. It has a predilection for the female gender, and the head and neck is the region most commonly affected, representing approximately 60% of cases. In the oral cavity it can affect the lip, jugal mucous membrane and tongue. The lesions are prone to ulceration and laceration and may be come an esthetic problem, with a considerable risk of hemorrhage, especially when arterial in nature. A 70-year-old female patient was submitted to physical examination and imaging to confirm the vascular nature of a change in the lateral edge of the tongue. The patient was operated on for the removal of the affection, following a precise diagnosis of the vessels feeding the lesion, extra care being taken in relation to the surgical technique. The postoperative result is satisfactory.
