ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological features of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) negative plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) with no-immunosuppression,so as to accelerate the understanding for this group of disease. Methods The histological features of 6 HIV-PBL patients with no-immunodeficiency were retrospectively analyzed.Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) status was detected by in situ hybridization. Then, immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) method were used to determine the immunophenotype, latent status of EBV and MYC translocation in PBL,respectively. Results HIV-PBL showed monotonous proliferation of plasmablastoid or immunoblast-like cells.Giant cells and necrosis could be observed, with less reactive cells in the background and higher mitoses. All the cases had EBV infection and type Ⅰ latency status of EBV (LMP1-/EBNA2-),and expressed terminal B-cell differentiation immunophenotype (CD20-/CD3-/CD138+/Kappa or Lambda+).Six HIV-PBL patients were elderly (median age was 69.5 years old),had equal incidence of PBL between male and female and showed high frequency of involvement of extranodal and extraoral lesion sites (6 cases and 5 cases, respectively).Median sutvival was 25.5 months. In addition,3 HIV-PBL patients had IGH/MYC translocations. Conclusions HIV-PBL is a new entity with unique clinical features including no-HIV infection, elderly,EBV positivity, and more involvement in extranodal and extraoral sites.HIV-PBL should be distinguished from HIV+ PBL.

ABSTRACT

As an increasing threat of women's health worldwide, breast cancer has many well-established risk factors, including early-age menarche, late-age menopause, post menopausal obesity, improper use of hormone therapy and genetic susceptibility. However, these risk factors only account for about half of the incidence and mortality of breast cancer. Recent studies provide many clues that three primary hormone responsive virus: Epstein-Barr virus(EBV), human papilloma viruses (HPV) and mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) may act as important agents of human breast cancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the role of Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) infection on the abnormal activation of peripheral B-iymphocytes of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, and the relationship between EBV infection and the abnormal activation of B-lymphocytes and SLE activity is explored. Methods BamH I-W genome in EBV DNA of 52 SLE patients and 23 controls were examined by PCR-Southern blotting. The level of ANA and EBV VCA-IgM in sera was measured by ELISA. The expression of CD19+ and expression rate of CD19+ and CD23+/CD19+ in EBV-positive SLE patients was higher than that of EBV-negative patients. Meanwhile, the fluorescence signal of CD23 in B cell of EBV-positive SLE patients was stronger than that of EBV-negative ones. Conclusion EBV infection may be related to abnormal activation of B-lymphocytes.EBV may infect and activate B-lymphocytes by up regulating the expression of CD23 of B-lymphocytes. The abnormal activation of B-lymphoeytes is associated with SLE activity.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical significance of quantitative analysis of EBV DNA in plasma,CYFRA21-1 and VCA-IgA in serum of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients.METHODS EBV DNA in plasma,CRFRA21-1 and VCA-IgA in serum of 62 patients were analyzed using RealTime PCR technique, electrochemiluminescence immunoassay(ECI),and immunoenzyme assay respectively. And these were compared among clinical remission, recurrent or metastasis groups.RESULTS The positive rate of preoperative radiotherapy group was significantly higher than clinical remission group(P

ABSTRACT

Objective To detect EB virus in peripheral blood of patients with non-hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) by ramification amplification method (RAM).To investigate the relativity of NHL with infection of EB virus. Methods RAM was used to detect EB virus with the man-made target gene sequence of promotor of EBER-1. In 120 cases of patients with NHL, EB virus were detected by RAM, and the result of RAM was compared with that of PCR.Raji cells and NB4 cells were used as positive control and negative control respectively. Results RAM could detect 10 molecular target gene of the exponent.76 cases were positive in 120 cases of NHL patients and the positive rate was 63.3%, The result is identical with that of PCR.Conclusion Ramification amplification method is sensitive, convenient and easy to perform.NHL has a high relativity with infection caused by EB virus.
