We designed and constructed the China-Asean traditional medicine database for understanding and taking advantages of traditional medicine in Asean countries. Based on the principle of software engineering design, referred to the construction ideas, functional modules and construction methods of traditional Chinese medicine database, this paper designed and constructed China-Asean traditional Chinese medicine database, which has provided the basic information system for the exchange, cooperation and development. The database of and asean traditional medicine based on Internet is established, which provides basic data information service for the mutual exchange, cooperation and development of traditional medicine research. The "China-Asean traditional medicine database" has been token as the basic data platform for information centralization and sharing, and it lays a foundation for the construction of higher level knowledge base and intelligent application system to accumulate data in the field of traditional medicine.

The DISC provides the knowledge of number of drugs for practical application while prescribing. To provide healthcare professionals and patients with immediate access to accurate, concise and unbiased information on drug therapy problems. Methods: This is randomized study is to be conducted to determine the opinions of doctors, medical students, nurses, patients, other non-medical staff and general public as a patient representation from our institute campus regarding necessity of drug information. They are provided written feedback forms to be filled. The drug information service center (DISC) routinely responds to queries/inquiries regarding various drug related information. A structured eleven points questionnaire containing both open and close ended questions is prepared for opinion poll in feed-back form. Results: Large majority of the health and non-health professionals of opinion poll are in favour of reforms &innovations. They also suggested their own suggestions regarding the refreshing the subjects. Conclusions: It is essential to create awareness of the services provided by the DISC among physician’s pharmacists, nurses and consumers so that they should come forward to utilize these services.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the Website establishment and its service in domestic medical information re-search institutions. Methods The Website establishment and its service in domestic medical information institutions were investigated at the national, provincial and municipal levels respectively. Results The Website establishment in domestic medical information institutions showed its diversified characteristics, including both traditional and e-merging service contents. The Website service form was rather simplistic with one-way information distribution as its main service. The Chinese resources were sufficiently developed, but their integration was poor. Platforms for Characteristic data and resources or databases were introduced by some medical information research institutions. Conclusion Medical information research institutions should pay their attention to the information needs of users, improve their service awareness, expand their service scope and depth, provide decision supporting information service, integrate medical information resources that can be shared, improve information supporting level and utilization ratio of medical information resources.
