ABSTRACT

Objective: To analyze the imaging findings, diagnosis and treatment of central neurocytoma. Methods: The clinical information of 7 cases of central neurocytoma in Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from January 2005 to March 2013 was retrospectively analyzed. The surgical experience was summarized, and the related literatures were reviewed. Results: Of 7 cases, 3 were females and 4 were males; 6 had tumor in anterior 2/3 of the ventricle, 5 originated from septum pellucidum around monro foramen, 1 originated from lateral ventricular wall. The MRI showed that the lesions were mostly hypointense and displayed mixed signals on T1WI images, mainly hypointense and slightly hyperintense signals on T2WI images; most of neurocytomas showed heterogeneous enhancement on dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI images. Six cases underwent gross total resection, 1 case underwent subtotal resection. Two cases received postoperative radiotherapy, 1 case received adjuvant chemotherapy. One case died postoperatively in hospital. Five cases were followed-up, and 1 case was lost to follow-up. The follow-up time was from 15 to 25 months. Four cases had satisfying prognosis, 1 case had hemiplegic paralysis, and no cases had recurrent tumor. Conclusion: Microneurosurgery is the best treatment for central neurocytoma, mastering the technique and key points of operation can achieve significant clinical effectiveness and improve the prognosis. ABSTRACT

Objectives This study was to evaluate GABA BR (including GABA BR1 and GABA BR2) expression in human gastric cancer. Methods Thirty randomly chosen patients with gastric cancer who underwent surgical treatment were entered into the current study. Immunohistochemistry was carried out to determine the expression of GABA BR. Results Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that the scores of GABA BR1 and GABA BR2 in human gastric cancer tissue increased apparently compared with the adjacent normal tissue(P

ABSTRACT

Objective:To study expression and significance of intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1),vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1) and E-selectin in nasal polyps. Methods:Expression of three adhesion molecules in nasal polyps from 25 patients and in middle turbinates mucosa from 9 volunteers with deviation of nasal septum was measured with immunohistochemistry. All samples were also studied by HE stain and observed under optical microscope. Results:Abundant eosinophils(EOS) were observed in nasal polyps.Expression of three adhension molecules in nasal polyps upgrade significantly. There is a positive correlation between the expression in the vascular endothelium and in the matrix of nasal polyps. The statistical analysis also shows such a correlation between the expression of ICAM-1 and of VCAM-1 in the vascular endothelium of nasal polyps. Conclusion:In nasal polyps expression of these adhesion molecules increases significantly. They can express in the vascular endothelium and the matrix. They may play a key role in the chronic inflammation procedure with inflammatory cells to attach to the vascular wall,to migrate into the matrix, and to be activated. They may perform synergistic action to take part in the whole process of nasal polyps.
