ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The double-rod of bridge-link type combined internal fixation system belongs to eccentric fixation, which may lead to the weakening of longitudinal fixation and the decrease of transverse anti-torsion after operation. OBJECTIVE: To compare the biomechanical characteristics of bridge-link type combined internal fixation system with mixed-rod and double-rod in the treatment of femoral and tibial fractures. METHODS: Twenty human long bone diaphysis models were made by 40 short polyformaldehyde materials. Of these, 10 were fixed by mixed-rod, and the rest with bridge-link type combined internal fixation system. Axial compression tests and radial torsion tests were carried out (five models were selected from each group). The changes of axial compression forces and displacements and transverse torque and angle were observed. The maximum load was recorded when the curve had a break point or in a horizontal state, and then the yield load was calculated. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) When the axial compression load was

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the clinical curative effect of bridge combined internal fixation system (BCFS) and digital customized steel plate(DCSP) for treating complex extremity fracture. Methods Fortyseven cases of complex extremity fracture in this hospital from October 2012 to October 2015 were treated by BCFS and DCSP,among them,26 cases adopted BCFS(BCFS group) and 21 cases were treated by DCSP(DCSP group). Then the operation time, intraoperative blood loss volume, hospitalization time, healing time of fracture, postoperative complications and function evaluation of limbs were compared between the two groups. Results The two group were followed up for 6-15 months with an average of(13.57±1.37)months.The DCSP group was better than the BCFS group in the aspects of operation time and intraoperative blood loss volume, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The fracture healing time in the BCFS group was significantly shorter than that in the DCSP group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The hospitalization time, postoperative complications and function evaluation of limbs had no statistical differences between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Both BCFS and DCSP can acquire good clinical curative effect in the treatment of complex extremity fracture, however BCFS has a shorter healing time of fracture.

ABSTRACT

[Objective]To report the initial outcomes of occipitocervical fixation using plate-rod-polyaxial screw system and investigate whether this new system offers any advantage over other existing methods of fixation.[Method]Fourteen cases(male 9,female 5)accepted cervicooccipital fixation with plate-rod-polyaxial screw system. There were 3 cases of odontoid dysplasia with dislocation;spinal canal tumor in 3;2 cases of metastatic carcinoma with pathologic fracture of C_1 and C_2,rheumatoid arthritis with cervicooccipital instability, and fasilar impression;burst fracture of C_1 with oecipital-atlantal-axial instability in 1.Twelve cases had neck pain.Thirteen cases had neurological deficits in different degrees.JOA score was 12.4 on average.[Result]The positions of all screws were good. There was no complication related to inserting screws. All neck pain released.Fourteen-months follow-up was obtained on average in 13 patients.Cervicooccipital nonunion was in one case and its occipital screws were pulled out.Twelve patients had satisfactory fixation and got firm fusion.Ameliotate rate of JOA score of the neurological function was 63.0%.[Conclusion]These initial data indicate that posterior occipitocervical fixation using plate-rod-polyaxial screw system is safe and reliable, and satisfactory clinical outcome can be obtained. The system appears to offer some advantages over other existing methods of fixation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the difference in treament of thoracolumbar vertebral bodies fractures be- tween AF nail and Dick nail. Methods From March 1998 to March 2007,85 cases of thoracolumbar vertebral bod- ies fractures were followed up.20 cases were fixed with Dick nail, and 65 cases with AF nail. Results The mean,fol- low-up period was 12 months.By comparison of the operating rime, bleeding amount, the recovery rate of vertebral height, the reduction of Cobb angle and capacity of vertebral canal,AF nail was much better than Dick nail. But there was no marked difference in the recover of nerve function. Conclusion AF nail has more power to reduce vertebral height and is easier to set than Dick nail.It will be worthy of more and wider application in basic level hospitals.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To explore effect of Axis internal fixation system while decompression and fusion for the treatment of timeworn atlantoaxial dislocation with incomplete spinal cord injury. Methods 29 cases of timeworn atlanto-axial dislocation with incomplete spinal cord injury underwent decompression fusion and Axis internal fixation with a 7~46 months (mean 20 months) flowing-up.ResultsAfter treatment, all patients got completed fusion, there was no deterioration of neurofunction, and rate of JOA scores increased was 78.6%.ConclusionAxis internal fixation system can provide immediately a rigid stability and maintain axial correction for the segment ahile decompression and fusion for the treatment of timeworn atlantoaxial deslocation with incomplete spinal cord injury.
