ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the mediating role of negative cognitive processing bias between pathological narcissism and interpersonal conflict of college students. Methods:The pathological narcissism, negative cognitive processing bias and interpersonal conflict of 540 college students were investigated by the super brief-PNI, negative cognitive processing bias questionnaire and NRI-relationship quality version.Descriptive analysis, correlation analysis and reliability test of the questionnaires were conducted by SPSS 27.0 software.Amos 23.0 software was used for structural equation modeling, and the nonparametric percentile Bootstrap method based on deviation correction was used for intermediary effect test. Results:The scores of pathological narcissism, negative cognitive processing bias and interpersonal conflict were (3.33±0.86), (2.41±0.60) and (2.34±0.77), respectively.Pathological narcissism, negative cognitive processing bias and interpersonal conflict were significantly positively correlated ( r=0.38-0.94, all P<0.01). Negative cognitive processing bias played full mediating role in the relationship between pathological narcissism and interpersonal conflict. The model was well fitted ( χ2/ df=2.63, CFI =0.99, NFI=0.98, IFI=0.99, TLI=0.98, RMSEA=0.05). Path analysis and mediation test showed that pathological narcissism had a significant predictive effect on the total effect of interpersonal conflict among college students ( β=0.52, P<0.001). Pathological narcissism had a significant predictive effect on negative cognitive processing bias ( β=0.64, P<0.001). Negative cognitive processing bias had a significant predictive effect on interpersonal conflict ( β=0.76, P<0.001). Pathological narcissism didn’t predict the direct effect of interpersonal conflict significantly ( β=0.03, P>0.05). Conclusion:Pathological narcissism has a positive predictive effect on interpersonal conflict among college students.Negative cognitive processing bias plays a complete intermediary role between pathological narcissism and interpersonal conflict.

ABSTRACT

Background: To obtain suggestions regarding the methods of cooperative learning in basic nursing education, the nursing students' perceptions of cooperative learning and the relationship between such perceptions and their influencing factors were elucidated. Methods: Anonymous, self-administered questionnaires were conducted among 131 nursing students at University A in the Chubu region of Japan. Results: Binomial logistic regression confirmed that cooperative learning experiences in high school, learning satisfaction at University A, social support, styles of handling interpersonal conflicts, and undervaluing others in regard to assumed competence were significant influencing factors on the cooperative work recognition scale.Discussion: Factors, including professional identity, communication ability and students' past negative experiences, may have an effect on the recognition of cooperative work. This suggests the need for the continued investigation of the aspects of cooperative learning that take these factors into account.

ABSTRACT

Globalization has allowed the contact among workers from different countries and cultures. The objective of this study was to investigate interpersonal conflicts involving Brazilian and foreign workers in the sector of electrical and electronic appliances, in the Free Zone of Manaus. Fourteen Brazilian workers were interviewed about conflicts with other Brazilians and foreigners in the workplace, including triggering factors of conflict, the episode of conflict and its consequences. The triggering factors of conflict were organized into seven groups: (a) Productivity and efficiency (b) Work methodology and planning, (c) Hierarchy, command and leadership, (d) Institutional or company problems, (e) Communication and interpersonal relationships, (f) Ethical and moral issues, (g) Cultural and educational differences. The conflict was typically part of an ongoing relationship and not only a specific interaction and showed positive and negative consequences according to the participants. Cultural differences were recognized in the relationship with foreigners and with other Brazilians. Conflicts with foreigners showed greater diversity and intensity, but more positive outcomes when compared with interpersonal conflicts among Brazilians. It may be concluded that cultural differences affect interpersonal conflicts but these differences are present not only in the relationship between Brazilians and foreigners but also among Brazilians of different origins.

ABSTRACT

This article focuses on children cognitive Functioning in the social domain of knowledge. It is based on the use of problem solving tasks (PST), using a social skills perspective, to investigate the way in which children solve interpersonal conflicts. The project's overall objective is to describe the cognitive functioning of 20 children between four and sixth years of age, for interpersonal conflicts solving, through the performances obtained in a task that simulates three scenarios where there are disputes between various characters. The results show that school-age children are able to incorporate social skills from an early age and support the idea that cognitive development, especially in the social domain, does not require an overall functioning, but show variability in short periods of time compared to solving interpersonal conflicts, and even within the same task's micro moments.

On handling interpersonal conflict strategy indices, such as integrating, avoiding, dominating and obliging but not compromising (t_((1120))=1.97, P<0.05), there were no significant differences between soldiers and employees. Only on in-tegrating, there were significant ditterenees among four adult attachment styles (F_((3,1009))=10.18, P<0.001).Attachment avoidance had a significantly negative correlation with integrating, obliging and compromising (r=-0.31,-0.11,-0.13 respectively), while attachment anxiety had moderate but significant correlations with a-voiding, dominating and obliging and compromising (r=0. 16,0.35, 0.35, 0.39, 0.30 respectively). Conclu-sion Adult attachment is closely related to handling interpersonal conflict strategies, and there was difference on compromising between soldiers and employees.
