ABSTRACT

Lycium leaf (LL) is the dried leaf of Lycium chinese Mill or Lycium barbarum L. In this paper, the edible and medicinal history, the chemical composition and pharmacological effects of LL were reviewed; and the status of development and utilization of LL was collected. That LL contains polysaccharides are found, flavonoids, steroids and terpenes, and has the effect of anti-oxidation, hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and improving memory.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical constituents from the leaves of Nitraria tangutorum. Methods: The chemical constituents were isolated by solvent extraction, repeated silica gel chromatography, and preparative-HPLC. Their structures were elucidated by physicochemical properties and 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR data. Results: Nine compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of the leaves of N. tangutorum and their structures were identified as 4-oxo-β-ionol β-D-glycopyranoside (1), (6R,9R)-3- oxo-α-ionol β-D-glycopyranoside (2), blumenyl C β-D-glucopyranoside (3), blumenyl A β-D-glucopyranoside (4), syringaresinol- 4'- O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), citrusin B (6), nikoenoside (7), 2-phenylethyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (8) and indole-3-ethyl-β- D-glucopyranoside (9). Conclusion: All the isolates are reported from the plants of Nitraria L. for the first time and the 13C-NMR data of compound 9 are also reported for the first time.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the chemical constituents from the ethanol extract of Spiraea pubescens. Methods: The compounds were isolated and purified by chromatography on silica gel, ODS, and preparative HPLC. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic methods, including MS, 1D, and 2D NMR spectral techniques. Results : Fourteen compounds were isolated and identified as β-sitosterol (1), tricosyl alcohol (2), stigmast-4-en-3-one (3), pentacosyl alcohol (4), stigmastanol (5), (+)-cyclo-olivil (6), (+)-africannal (7), (+)-lyoniresinol (8), 5-methoxy-(+)-isolariciresinol (9), (+)-isolariciresinol (10), (7R,8R)-4,7,9,9'-tetrahydroxy-3,3'-dimethoxy-8-O-4'-neolignan (11), (6S,9R)-6-hydroxy-3-one-α-ionol-9-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (12), (+)-lyoniresinol 9-O-β-D-xylopyranoside (13), and (-)-lyoniresinol 9-O-β-D-xylopyranoside (14). Conclusion: Compounds 2-5 and 7-14 are isolated from the plants of Spiraea L. for the first time, and compounds 1 and 6 are obtained from this plant for the first time.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the chemical composition from leaves of Smallanthus sonchifolius. Methods Some chromatography methods were used in the isolation procedure, while the structures were determined on the aids of NMR and MS spectral analyses. Results A new compound, together with five known compounds, was isolated from the ethanolic extract of the leaves. The new compound is characterized as 5,8-dihydroxyl-(5H,8H)-?-ionol(Ⅰ).Other compounds are obtained for the first time from the title plant and identified as ent-kaurane-3?,16?,17-triol(Ⅱ),entkaurane-16?,17-diol-19-oic acid(Ⅲ),3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde(Ⅳ),1-pentacosanol(Ⅴ),and 1-octacosanol(Ⅵ),respectively.Conclusion Compounds Ⅰ-Ⅵ are isolated from the plants of genus Smallanthus for the first time.Compound Ⅰ is a ?-ionol derivate firstly isolated from genus Smallanthus. It is named as sonchifolol.
