ABSTRACT

Aims: To examine the differences in the levels of microRNA, ischemic modified albumin (IMA), total oxidant capacity (TOC), and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of persons with and without psoriasis and, in the case group, the relationship between these parameters and psoriasis area and severity index (PASI). Methods: Blood samples were collected from patients and healthy participants to examine levels of these parameters. Results: The mean serum TOC level was higher in the case group. The mean serum TAC and IMA levels were significantly lower in the case group (P <0.001). It was observed that the mean serum miR-203 and miR-146a levels were increased in psoriasis patients. It was determined that there was only a significant positive weak correlation between miR-203 and PASI (r = 0.232, P = 0.027). Limitations: The small sample size, not controlling serum albumin and not evaluating the effects of the treatment agents used by the patients on oxidative and inflammatory processes. Conclusion: In the case group changes in the mean serum TOC and TAC levels provide evidence that oxidative stress may play a critical role in disease pathogenesis. The increase in the mean serum miR-203 and miR-146a levels suggest the possibility of therapies targeting these microRNAs as a new option

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the clinical significance of ischemia modified albumin for the degree of myocardial damage and prognosis of neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure. Methods Select 60 samples of neonates with pneumonia, neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure, and normal neonates respectively, then detect and compare the level of ischemia modified protein (IMA),cTnI and CK-MB from the three groups neonates' serum.Calculate the left ventricular Tei index of three groups neonates by ultrasonic testing and compare.Compare the positive rates of IMA,cTnI,and CK-MB in neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure group.Analyze the correlation between IMA and cTnI,CK-MB,and left ventricular Tei index in neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure group. The incidence of death and cardiac events were recorded by follow-up visiting neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure, and the relationship between IMA level and prognosis was analyzed. Results The differences in three indexes of IMA,cTnI and CK-MB were statistically significant in the three groups, all of which were significantly higher in neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure group than those in other two groups (P < 0.05).The positive rate of IMA in neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure group was the highest 88.33% (P < 0.05).The left ventricular Tei index of the pneumonia combined with heart failure neonates group was 0.42 ± 0.11,which was significantly higher than the other two groups (P < 0.05).The IMA and cTnI,CK-MB and left ventricular Tei index in pneumonia combined with heart failure neonates were all positively correlated (r =0.81,r =0.73,r =0.69,P < 0.05).Both the mortality and cardiac events in the high IMA group were significantly higher than that in the mid-level IMA group and the low-level IMA group (P < 0.05).Conclusion The ischemic modified albumin can be used as an effective indicator for the degree of myocardial damage and prognosis of neonates with pneumonia combined with heart failure.

ABSTRACT

Two hundred and fourteen patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTEACS) underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Serum ischemic modified albumin (IMA) levels were measured in patients at admission. The major adverse cardiac events (MACE),including cardiac death, nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI) and recurrent ischemia leading to urgent revascularization were observed during 1-y period of follow-up.Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves,Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox regression were used to assess the prognostic value of IMA for 1-y MACE.Twenty one patients experienced major adverse cardiac events during 1-y follow up period, including 6 cases of cardiac death,8 cases of new or recurrent MI,7 cases of target vessel/lesion revascularization or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).ROC showed that the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.667,and when IMA was used to predict 1-y major adverse cardiac events, the cut-off value of 65.3 kU/L was most effective.Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that IMA was significantly correlated with the occurrence of 1-y MACE(P < 0.01).But Cox regression model showed that IMA levels were not independent risk factor for 1-y MACE in NSTEACS patients, when adjusted with other risk factors.
