ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare the immediate therapeutic effect and safety between esmolol and lanatoside in con-trolling ventricular rate for patients with rapid atrial fibrillation. Methods:A total of 72 patients with rapid atrial fi-brillation (ventricular rate ≥120 beats/min)were randomly and equally divided into esmolol group and lanatoside group.Esmolol group received first dosage of 0.5 mg/kg intravenously for 1 min, then were observed for 5 min,if ventricular rate still >100 beats/min or decreased 100 beats/min or decreased0.05)between two groups. Conclusion:Intravenous using esmolol is efficient and safe, and it can be regarded as pre-ferred therapy to control ventricular rate in patients with rapid atrial fibrillation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare the safety and efficacy of varied treatments for cardioversion of paroxysmal atria] fibrillation (AF) in the aged patients and to explore choice of electrical cardioversion with direct current. Methods Clinical data of cardioversion with lanatoside (cedilandid) or propafenone, a sodium channel blocker prolongs refractoriness, for 57 aged patients with paroxysmal AF were summarized to observe their cardioversion and control of heart rate. And, synchronous electrical cardioversion will be offered to those with severe complications and ineffective with drug treatment within 24 h after the onset of AF. Results An emergency cardioversion ratio was 28.1 % with lanatoside within 24 h with a satisfactory control of ventricular rate, as compared with that of 62.2% with propafenone (P

ABSTRACT

After electrical stimulation of the phrenic nerve, the function of the diaphragm was assessed by measurement of the transdiaphragmatic pressure (PDi),establishment of the Pdi-sti-mulating frequency (F) curve, and analysis of the power spectrum on the diaphragmatic elec-tromyogram (EMGdi) at spontaneous breathing.Hypercapnia of the dogs was induced by forcing the animals to inhale a mixture of CO2 and air.The findings were as follows:(1) After acute hypercapnia,PDi rapidly and progressively decreased. The power spectrum of EMGdi was also reduced. The PDi-F curve was shifted to right. These findings suggest that the function of the diaphragm was severely damaged.(2) The decrease of pH value was the important cause of diaphragmatic fatigue.(3) The diaphragm in a static condition could reduce the damage of hypercapnia.(4) Cedi-lanid exerted certain effects on the prevention of diaphragmatic fatigue created by acute hypercapnia.

ABSTRACT

The contents of lanata C in leaves of biennial Digitalis lanata were determined by means of radioimmunoassay. The results show that the contents of lanata C in leaves of Digitalis rapidly increased half a month before blossom and reached maximum between a week before and a week after blossom, and then decreased gradually. The contents of lanata C in a day reached maximum between .1 and 6 0'clock in the afternoon. This study will provide useful information for selecting an appropriate time to collect.
