ABSTRACT

[Objective] To explore the relationship between brittle diabetes and yin fire, so as to more comprehensively understand fragile diabetes from TCM, broaden the clinical diagnosis and treatment, and improve the clinical curative effect. [Methods] The theory of yin-fire theory was summarized, and the relationship between brittle diabetes and yin-fire was expounded from the aspects of academic origin, pathological basis, clinical manifestation and so on, proposed treatment principles and prescriptions.[Result] The yin fire theory originated from Nei Jing. Yin and yang do not rise, wet muddy bets, endogenous fire, the fire is too weak. Fever is the reason for the formation of diabetes, Yin fire is an important reason for fluctuations in blood sugar; brittle diabetes expelling Bu Zhong Yi Qi, lifting fine, Xie Yin fire, from Dongyuan Qingshu Yiqi Decoction to the treatment of fragile diabetes sugar made a good effect. ABSTRACT

LI Dong-yuan discussed the pathogenesis and treatment of "atrophic debility of bones" in his writings. This article explained and summarized the pathogenesis of atrophic debility of bones in LI's works. LI held that the pathogenesis of atrophic debility of bones is divided into damp-heat, overabundant yin leading to yang hyperactivity, and overabundant yin leading to insufficient yang. Combined with clinical observation, this article considered that the LI's atrophic debility of bones is similar to renal osteopathy in terms of disease name, clinical manifestation and pathogenesis. Therefore it put forward to the treatment of renal osteodystrophy from LI's theory. The methods of treatment were invigorating splenic yang and dehumidify, moistening dryness and tonifying kidney, replenishing qi, purging yin fire, raising yang and lifting prolapsed zang-fu organs, and expeling wind and removing dampness.

ABSTRACT

Objective] To explore core thought of Li Dongyuan’s spleen and gastric theory, grasp the basic spirit of Dongyuan theory, and better guide the clinic. [Method]Basing on some relevant theories from NeiJing, the eminent physician in Jin and Yuan Dynasties established the academic thought centering on regulating the spleen and stomach in treatment of the deficiencies. [Result]The thought revealed the cooperative function between invigorating Yang and tonifying middle-energizer and Qi. It also proposed the concept of “ Yin-fire” and the method of relieving high fever with drugs of sweet flavor and warm nature, creating a series of prescriptions of invigorating Yang and tonifying middle-energizer, which broadening the clinical treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. ABSTRACT

Purpose] This paper aims to summarize the clinical practice of using Buzhong Yiqi Decoction to treat the obstructed nine orifices. [Approach] After explaining Li Dongyuan’s theory that those obstructed nine orifices reflecting headaches and tinnitus are caused by intestines and stomach diseases, which is in his Suwen On Deficiency and Excess and analyzing several simple cases of using buzhong yiqi decoction to treat the obstructed nine orifices, this paper tries to trace the theoretical origin of Prof. Lian’s practice and present the practical experience of flexible usage of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction. [Result] The outcome of several patients under treatment shows that the short-and-mid-term treatment is very effective. [Conclusion] Prof. Lian’s philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine reflects his attitude that “those patients suffering from insufficiency of primordial Qi and clear Yang failing to distribute”or“clear Yang coming out of stomach”ask for strengthening the spleen and stomach so their stomach recovers to the healthy state. As a result, their Yang Qi has been greatly improved, the spleen and stomach in the middle energizer have returned to their original place, reaching the autonomous regulation of the nine orifices, which has shed some light on the usefulness of Buzhong Yiqi on treatment diseases other than those of spleen and stomach.

ABSTRACT

Objective]To explore the essence of doubts differentiation from‘Neiwaishangbianhuolun’,the monumental work of the medical practitioner Dongyuan Li in Jin and Yuan Dynasties, and relativity between internal damage and exogenous diseases.[Methods] By means of researching the background of‘Neiwaishangbianhuolun’, analyzing the 13 main differentiations, think about the essence of doubts differentiation; meanwhile, by connecting to the explicate of mechanism of ascending yangqi belonging to exterior-releasing medicine(wind-expel ing drugs) in his representative work‘Piweilun’, discuss the contrary and transforming relationships between exogenous wind-cold and internal damage of the stomach and spleen, comparing to academic thoughts of Zhongjing Zhang’s‘Shanghanlun’. [Results]Realize essence of doubts differentiation from ‘Neiwaishangbianhuolun’ is not exterior or interior of disease location, but deficiency and excess of disease character.By analyzing the functional mechanism of wind-expel ing drugs and relationship among exogenous diseases,wind-expel ing drugs and the stomach and spleen, raise the relativity between internal damage and exogenous diseases. [Conclusions] The revealing of the essence of deficiency and excess differentiations from‘Neiwaishangbianhuolun’, together with knowledge of the functional essence of wind-expel ing drugs and the relevance of internal damage and exogenous diseases, may open the mind partly for syndrome differentiation and medications in the clinic.

ABSTRACT

[Objective] Research for the pulse mechanism, diagnosis and treatment of Pro. Lian Jianwei on right guan large virtual pulse. [Method] Through analyzing Pro. Lian learning process of pulses and his outpatient cases, explore his clinical diagnosis and treatment on right guan large virtual pulse, summarize the right guan large virtual pulse mechanism and the use of formula and medication by Pro. Lian. [Result] Pro. Lian attaches importance to the value of Li Dongyuan’s academy of spleen and stomach, skil in pulse diagnosis. He considers that right guan large virtual pulse is the pulse on right hand guan which is wide and large, soft and empty when taking pulse. Internal injury due to emotional disorder and diet fatigue are the main factors that result to deficiency of spleen qi and stomach qi, endophytic of yin-fire, consumed yin-blood, causing qi detached from blood and lead to the rising of qi to surface. The treatment obeys the rules of“debilitated patients treated with herbs warm in property ”by“Neijing”, uses Li Dongyuan’s Buzhongyiqi decoction with herbs sweet in flavor and warm in property to invigorate qi to elevate spleen-yang, for sufficient primordial qi and convergence yin-fire, also modifying the formula accord-ing to the patient’s syndrome. [Conclusion] Pro. Lian is good at inheriting Li Dongyuan’s spleen and stomach academy, attaches importance to the pulse diag-nosis in his clinical practice, good at using Li Dongyuan’s Buzhongyiqi decoction and modifying it according to the patient’s syndrome as the treatment for right guan large virtual pulse.
