ABSTRACT

A new naphthalene derivative and three known compounds were isolated from the petroleum ether extract of the bulbs of Eleutherine americana by using various chromatographic techniques, such as column chromatography over silica gel and semi-preparative HPLC. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic date (MS, UV, IR, NMR), which were identified as eleutherol B (1), 4,8-dihydroxy-3-methoxy-1-methylanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (2), 8-hydroxy-3,4-dimethoxy-1-methylanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (3), and isoeleutherine (4). Compound 1 is a new compound. The diastolic blood vessels activity of compound 1 and 2 were potent, reaching 82.5% and 85.3% at the concentration of 10 μmol·L⁻¹, which were basically the same as that of the positive drug tanshinone ⅡA.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the development and utilization of Li medicine resources in Hainan Province, analyze the existing problems and present specific suggestions for the rational exploitation and utilization of Li medicine resources. Methods SWOT analysis was carried out on the development and utilization of Li medicine in Hainan by means of literature analysis and field survey. Results The advantage of Li medicine lies in its long history and sufficient resources. The complicated ethnic factors within Li nationality hindered the development of Li medicine and resulted in the lack of basic research.Although the relevant policies and market demands have brought opportunities for the development of Li medicine, the rapid development of society may pose a potential threat to the development and protection of Li medicine resources. Conclusion The unique advantages of Li medicine ought to be used to create Li medicine brand. While Hainan is building its international tourism island, the health benefits of Li medicine should be promoted.Through the creation of Li medicine schools or departments, new professionals need to be trained to continue the development and utilization of Li medicine.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To study the protective effects of Li medicine Chushi qufeng decoction on arthritis model rats. METH-ODS:60 rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, positive group and Chushi qufeng decoction high-dose,me-dium-dose and low-dose groups [45.9,22.95,11.48 g(crude drug)/kg]. Except for normal group, those groups were given chicken type Ⅱ collagen to induce arthritis model. After modeling, normal group and model group were given normal saline intragastrical-ly,once a day,for consecutive 12 d;Chushi qufeng decoction groups were given relevant medicine intragastrically;positive group was given leflunomide 4.5 mg/kg on 1st-3rd day and 1.8 mg/kg on 4th-12th day. The degree of joint lesion in rats were scored. The degree of joint swelling was determined as well as the serum levels of TNF-α,IL-1β and type Ⅱ collagen antibody. RESULTS:Compared with normal group, arthritis index, degree of joint swelling, the serum levels of TNF-α,IL-1βand typeⅡcollagen anti-body increased significantly in model group (P<0.01). Compared with model group, pathological score of positive group and Chushi qufeng decoction high-dose group decreased significantly, and serum levels of TNF-α,IL-1β and type Ⅱ collagen antibody decreased significantly in treatment groups(P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:Li medicine Chushi qufeng decoction has cer-tain protective effect on arthritis model rats induced by chicken typeⅡcollagen.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the chemical constituents of Li medicine Lihua Bidou Yan prescription. Methods: Chemical constituents were isolated by using various column chromatography. The structures were elucidated on the basis of physicochemical constants and spectral analysis. The anti-inflammatory activities of compound 1 were evaluated using LPS-induced RAW 264.7 cells. Results: Two compounds were obtained from Lihua bidou yan Prescription and identified as rhyncoside A-4-methly ether (1) and rhyncoside C (2), respectively. The NO production in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells was slightly inhibited by compound 1 at a concentration of 50 μmol/L. Conclusion: Compound 1 is a new phenolic glycoside; Compound 2 is obtained from the prescription for the first time. Rhyncoside A-4-methyl ether has anti-inflammatory activity.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To identify Li Medicine plants in Rubiaceae using DNA barcode technique and ITS sequance. Methods: The second internal transcribed spacer (ITS2) of ribosomal DNA was amplified by PCR and sequenced by bidirectional sequencing. Sequence assembly and consensus sequence generation were performed by CodonCode Aligner. The related data analysis was performed using software MEGA 5.0 and the phylogenetic tree was constructed. The ITS2 secondary structure was predicted using ITS2 web server. The distribution of intra-and inter-specific variability was compared using TAXON DNA software and analysed by barcoding gaps. Results: In the cluster dendrogram, all species showed monophyletic. There was no obviously distinguished intra-specific difference in ITS2 secondary structure, but there was obviously distinguished inter-specific difference. There are the significant barcoding gap between intra-and inter-specific variations. Conclusion: ITS2 sequence could be used as a DNA barcode for the rapid identification of Li Medicine plants in Rubiaceae in Hainan.
