ABSTRACT

DNA barcode molecular biological technique is used to identify the species of 23 unknown Li minority medicinal plants.DNA was extracted from 23 unknown medicines using the Plant Genomic DNA Extraction kit. The ITS2 and psbA-trnH regions were amplified and sequenced bi-directionally. The Codon Code Aligner V 7. 0. 1 was used to proofread and assemble the contigs and generated consensus sequences. All the sequences were submitted to Traditional Chinese Medicine DNA Barcode Database and NCBI Gen Bank to get information of the species identifications. If the maximum similarity of the identification result is ≥ 97%,exact species can be known. If it is between 97% and 90%,samples' genus can be confirmed; If it is <90%,then we can only confirm its family. Finally there are 17 samples can be identified to species level,5 can be identified to genus level and 1 can be identified to family level. This shows that DNA barcoding used in medicinal plants molecular identification, can identify unknown species rapidly and accurately.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the HBV infection and analyze the related risk factors among Li minority in Baisha county,Hainan Province. Methods: A total of 1 595 individuals of Li minority in Baisha county, were enrolled by random sampling method from July 2014 to October 2015. Epidemiological data including baseline characteristics and risk factors were obtained. HBcAb was detected by chemiluminescence method. The difference in age between HBcAb positive and negative group was analyzed by t test. The effects of age, gender and related risk factors on HBcAb were analyzed by univariate chi-square test and multivariate Logistic regression. Results: The positive rate of HBcAb was 71. 8% (1 145/1 595) and no significant difference between male and female was observed(x2=0. 134,P=0. 715). The difference of HBV infection among age groups was statistically significant (F=540. 769,P<0. 001). The HBV infection rate was 11. 9% in the 12-17 year group, which was significantly lower than the others. The rate in the 18-23 year group (28. 0% ) was significantly higher than that in the 12-17 year group, but significantly lower than the other groups (>85% ). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that alcohol consumption and tattoo were independent risk factors associated with HBV infection (x2=169. 833,P<0. 001;x2=11. 354,P=0. 001). Conclusion: The rate of HBV infection of Li minority in Baisha county,Hainan Province is high. The age, alcohol consumption and tattoo are the independent risk factors for infection.

ABSTRACT

Cai which are stem or heartwood of trees or stem of woody liana are a kind of medicinal plant resources traditionally used by Li Minoriy. Ethnobotanical methods were adopted for the investigation on traditional utilization of cai. Totally, 44 species in 26 families and 30 genera were reported to be used as cai. Most of the species were applied as decoction (70.5%) and medicinal liquor (27.3%) to treat a wide range of diseases, such as rheuma-toid arthritis (34.1%), liver diseases (18.2%), injuries and weak (15.9% respectively). Through literature survey, it was found that 7 species (15.9%) were used by Li Minority only. Besides, 13 species (29.5%) were used differently compared with that of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Consequently, it is indicated that indigenous knowledge of using medicinal plants by Li Minority is unique.
