ABSTRACT

[Objective] To investigate the effect of Biejia Jian Decoction on serum transforming growth factor ?1 (TGF-pl) , tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-?), lipid peroxidation ( LPO) and superoxide dismutase ( SOD) in patients with hepatic fibrosis (HF) induced by chronic hepatitis B. Its effect was compared with lamivudine. [Methods] Fifty-three cases of HF were randomized to two groups: group A (n = 27) was treated with Biejia Jian Decoction and group B ( n -26) with lamivudine for oral use. Twenty volunteers served as the normal controls (group C) . Serum levels of TGF-?1, TNF-?, LPO and SOD were observed before and after treatment. [Results] After treatment, serum levels of TGF-?1 and TNF-a were decreased markedly in group A (P 0.05) . Serum LPO level was lower and SOD level higher in groups A and B than those in group C before treatment ( P 0.05) but the level in group B differed from that of groups A and C (P 0.05) but the level in group B did not decrease and differed from that of groups A and C ( P

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To observe the therapeutic effect of Ganxian Granules Ⅰ (mainly composed of Radix Stephani-ae Tetrandrae, Semen Persicae and Radix Notoginseng) for the treatment of liver fibrosis induced by chronic virus hepatitis. [Methods] Two hundred cases of liver fibrosis induced by chronic virus hepatitis were randomized into group A (n = 120) and group B ( n = 80). Group A received Ganxian Granules Ⅰ 10g per day, tid, and group B received Dahuang Zhechong Pills 9g per day, tid for half a year. The therapeutic effect in the two groups was evaluated after treatment. The changes of hepatic function and serum levels of hyaluronidase (HA) , laminin (LN) and type Ⅲ precolla-gen ( PC Ⅲ) were compared before and after treatment. Meanwhile, type B ultrasonographic results and hepatic pathologic features were observed. [Results] The total therapeutic effective rate was 87.5% in group A, higher than 70.0% in group B ( P 0.05). Group A had a better effect in improving the hepatic function than group B (P

ABSTRACT

[Objective] To observe the effect of therapy of strengthening spleen to eliminate blood-stasis and fluid dampness for ascites due to liver cirrhosis. [Methods] Sixty - five cases were randomly allocated to Group A and Group B by interval randomization. Group A was treated with Jianpi Xiaogu Decoction (mainly composed of Radix Codonopsis, Polyporus, Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Pericarpium Arecae), one dose per day, which is combined with routine western medicine when necessary and Group B was treated with routine western medicine alone. The treatment course lasted one month and then a half-a-year follow- up was carried out. [Results] After treatment, 3 was cured, 12 markedly effective, 18 effective and 2 ineffective in Group A and 1,5, 14 and 10 respectively in Group B. The differences of each ranked effect in the two group were significant (U=2.80, P=0.005) . So did the total therapeutic effect (x2 = 8.19, P

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Chi nese herbs Biejia Ruangan pill(BRP)on fibrosis in chronic hepatic B.Methods Ninety -eight patients with liver fibrosis of chronic hepatitis B were ra ndomly divided into two groups of BRP ,treatment group and co ntrol group,in which clinical manif estation scoring, liver function an d serum marker of hepatic fibrosis were obse rved. Results BRP could obviously improve the clin ical manifestation scoring, liver function and serum marker of hepatic fibrosis as compared with the contro l group. Conclusion Chinese herbs BRP could treat liver fibrosis of chronic hepatitis B effectively.
