O presente artigo apresenta a noção de experiência em sua dinâmica própria de estruturação segundo o pensamento de Luigi Giussani, apontando sua originalidade. Experiência tomada como inteligência do sentido das coisas que viabiliza o emergir do real à consciência e que é examinada em sua característica de incrementar a capacidade da pessoa de compreender e amar, bem como de abrir-se à totalidade. A originalidade da noção giussaniana de experiência é identificada na ênfase no acontecimento ao invés da característica moderna e contemporânea do sujeito subjugar o real, podendo superar as reduções da experiência a sentimento, a fenômeno subjetivo ou efêmero.

This article presents the notion of experience in its own dynamic structure according to Luigi Giussani, pointing out its originality. Experience as intelligence of the meaning of things that enables the emergence from reality to consciousness is analyzed in view of its characteristic of increasing a person's ability to understand and love as well as to be open to totality. The originality of Giussani's notion of experience is the emphasis on the event rather than on the modern and contemporary characteristic of the subject suppressing reality, who might overcome the reductions of experience to a feeling, or a subjective or ephemeral phenomenon.

Encountering God through human experience: the life and thought of Luigi Giussani

This article gives an introduction to the life and thought of Luigi Giussani (1922-2005), a Catholic theologian who is the founder of the Communion and Liberation movement. Its focus is on Giussani?s proposal of the Christian life, not simply as a set of rules or a system of thought, but as an encounter with the person of Christ. As a consequence, experience is placed at the centre of faith because God himself experienced humanity in history. Since Giussani?s life was built alongside his theological articulation, the article then discusses the foundational concept of "religious sense", briefly highlighting its developments in education and psychology, and concludes with the correspondent answer of revelation in Christianity.(AU)

E a existência torna-se uma imensa certeza / And the existence becomes huge certainty

O presente ensaio apresenta uma fenomenologia da existência delineada a partir da leitura de Luigi Giussani em que os temas fundamentais são: a vida da palavra, a necessidade da esperança para a vida humana, a possibilidade e a necessidade de certeza para o enfrentamento da inevitável experiência de sofrimento e limite (na psicopatologia como em toda vida pessoal e social), o lugar da experiência religiosa para a constituição de tal certeza, o tipo de escuta da palavra que a certeza fundamental possibilita. Aponta características do trabalho de elaboração de tal experiência: desafia as circunstâncias, valoriza o instante presente. Conclui sobre o lugar imprescindível da experiência de dor para a constituição de sentido.(AU)

This paper presents a phenomenology of existence outlined from the reading of Luigi Giussani in which the fundamental themes are: the life of the word, the need of hope for human life, the possibility and need for certainty to face the inevitable experience of suffering and limit (in psychopathology as well as in all personal and social life), the place of religious experience for the establishment of such certainty, the kind of listening to the word that the fundamental certainty enables. It points features of the work of preparation of this experience: challenging circumstances, valuing the present moment. It concludes about the indispensable place of the pain experience for the constitution of meaning.(AU)
