ABSTRACT

Objectives:The purpose of the present study was to compare hydrolysis of structured lipid and physical mixed MCT/LCT with LCT emulsion. Methods:The emulsions used in this study were 20% Intralipid,20%Lipofundin and 20% Structoliped.Glycerol tri [1 14 C]palmitate and Glycerol trioctanoate were dissolved in lipid emulsions to give a specific radioactivity of 0.075 ?Ci/mg LCT and MCT oils. With buffer system at optimal pH,plasma albumin, lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipases were added.Incubation was performed in a shaking water bath at 37℃ for 60 minutes.Rate of hydrolysis were initially expressed as the amount of FFA release measured by radioactivity count.Percent hydrolysis was calculated as 14 C labled LCFAs and 3H labled MCFAs released relative to the initial amount of 14 C labled LCTs and 3H labled MCTs in the incubation mixture respectively. Results:The physical mixed MCT/LCT and structured lipid emulsion were hydrolyzed better than pure LCT particles, and more free fatty acids were released( P 0.05). Conclusions:The rate of physical mixed MCT/LCT emulsion and structured lipid emulsion hydrolysis were better pure than LCT emulsion, the release of total FFAs during emulsion hydrolysis is largely dependent on the amount of MCTs.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: To compare the effect of different fat emulsions on the blood lipid and liver function in neonates with hepatic dysfunction. Methods:40 babies with hyperbilirubinemia(≥51.3 mmol/L) were randomly divided into two groups ,receiving the fat emulsion of 20% Intralipid (LCT group) or 20% Lipofundin (MCT/LCT group) at the dose of 2.0 g/(kg?d) for 7 days. Blood lipid 〔total cholesterol(TC), triglyceride(TG)〕 and the serum biochemical indexes relative to liver function were measured before and after the period of 7 days. Results:The levels of TC did not change remarkably in two groups. There was significant difference in the levels of TG between the two groups after the study period (1.87?0.3 mmol/L in LCT group and 1.15?0.27 mmol/L in MCT/LCT group, t =7.833, P
