ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: This study analyzes the effects of the individual's health behavior on the health and the medical demand for the management of health and medical expenses. METHODS: This study uses the Korea Health Panel Survey data from 2010 to 2015. We utilize the panel ordered logit model and the panel Tobit model with the subjective health status and the medical expenses as the dependent variables. RESULTS: Chronic diseases would cause the deterioration of his or her health and the increase in medical expenses. Smoking and drinking alcohol would deteriorate one's health. The total amount of cigarettes increases medical expenses. Exercises could make people healthier, whereas excessive exercise might increase medical expenses. Private health insurance would increase medical expenses. CONCLUSION: Since health could reduce the medical expenses, people should promote one's health by changing one's behavior for health.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study the influencing factors of the rural medical service demand. Methods: The gravity model of medical service demand was derived based on Individual utility function and profit objective function of medical institutions, and the data regression examine model of some county-level and district-level hospital were used. Results: According to the research, the main factors influenced the quantity of medical services come from medical supplies. With the increase of resident disposable income, the elasticity of demand for medical services decreased, while visiting distance of elasticity of demand for medical services increased. Conclusion: To increase the accessibility of medical service, it needs to set meeting the resident’s personal demand as the center, to promote the development of private hospitals. The scale of large hospitals should be limited so as to lead large-scale hospitals to separate low value-added medical services and to promote effective implementation of the treatment classification system.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The demand of new rural cooperative medical system in Jiangsu province of the quantitative research is analyzed. Methods: To analyze cross-sectional data in 2011 statistical yearbook of Jiangsu province and China Statistical yearbook by using Extend Linear Expenditure System ( ELES) Model. Results: The farmers of Jiangsu for medical need a lower tendency and middle-income households below the expenditure on basic medical needs. In the premise of the farmers’ live, increase the income of medical and the demand will increase too. Conclusion:It needs to carry out effective propaganda work, improve the level of financing of the new rural cooperative medical system, implement the reform of the medical system.
