ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of liver injury in patients with Non-biliariogenous acute pancreatitis complicated with metabolic syndrome (MS).Methods There were 63 patients complicated with MS (the MS group) and 145 patients without MS (the non-MS group) hospitalized in our hospital were evaluated.The general conditions,body mass index (BMI),C reactive protein (CRP),blood lipid (TG),blood glucose,alanine aminotransferase (ALT),aspartate aminotransferase (AST),total bilirubin (TBIL) and albumin (ALB) were compared between the two groups.Results BMI,CRP,blood lipid and blood sugar in MS group were significantly higher than those in non MS group (P＜0.05).LevelsofALT[(123.4±16.7)U/Lvs(63.8±8.5)U/L,P＜0.05],AST[(84.7±13.1) U/L vs (55.7 ±7.1)U/L,P＜0.05],TBIL [(32.3 ±12.9)U/L vs (21.7 ±10.4)μmol/L,P＜0.05] in the MS group were higher than that in the non-MS group (P ＜ 0.05).The abnormal liver function in MS group was mostly elevated by AST and TBIL,but only elevation of AST in MS group.Conclusions The incidence of liver injury in patients with non biliary acute pancreatitis combined with metabolic syndrome is high and much heavier.In the diagnosis and treatment of such patients,the changes of liver function should be closely monitored and the active treatment should be strengthened.

Metabolic syndrome is a group of clinical syndromes characterized by overweight or obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, impaired glucose metabolism, and insulin resistance.It is a group of metabolic associated risk factors.Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is one of the most common diseases nowadays, and its risk factors include obesity, diabetes, and abnormal blood lipid.In recent years, the relationship between LDH and metabolic syndrome (MetS) has been valued by scholars.Although some studies have suggested that MetS is related to LDH, the study of the correlation between MetS and LDH at home and abroad is relatively rare.To explore the possibility of using MetS for the prevention and control of LDH, this paper reviews the research progress of the relationship among MetS, the various components, and LDH.

Metabolic syndrome (MS) is characterized by high blood glucose,high blood lipid,high blood pressure,and abdominal obesity with insulin resistance as the main characteristics.At present,some epidemiological surveys demonstrate the incidence rates of some malignant neoplasms including prostate cancer,hepatocellular carcinoma,colorectal adenoma,and breast cancer among MS patients were obviously increasing.Patients with MS present a high morbidity of certain tumors.This article summarizes the relationship between MS and malignant neoplasms as well as related mechanisms.

ObjectiveTo study the association of SNP276 in adiponectin gene with impaired glucose regulation (IGR) complicating with the different component numbers of metabolism syndrome (MS) in population of IGR in Han people of Shanxi region.MethodsThe study population consisted of 256 subjects with IGR which was composed of 123 subjects with component numbers of MS ＜2 (IGRA) and 133subjects with component numbers of MS≥2 (IGRB),and 128 subjects with normal healthy (Normal) who were Chinese Hans residents and in Shanxi province.Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was applied to test the adiponectin SNP276G/T polymorphism.ResultsThe distributions of genotypes and alleles of SNP276 both displayed significant difference among the three groups ( x2 =16.893,P =0.002 ; x2 =18.149,P =0.000).In the IGRA,the SNP276 non-TT ( GT + GG) genotype was no difference which increased risk of complicating with the different component numbers of MS( P =0.781,P =0.809).In IGRB,the SNP276 non-TT ( GT + GG) genotype was associated with increased risk of complicating with the different component numbers of MS,and after age and sex-adjusted,there was significant difference ( P =0.007,P =0.007).ConclusionsSNP276 in APM1 increased the risk of complicating with the components of MS in population with impaired glucose regulation in Han people of Shanxi region.

Objective To investigate the effects of pravastatin on the blood biochemical index,the levels of serum resistin,tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in patients with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and metabolic syndrome (MS).Methods 60 patients with IGT and MS were random treated with pravastatin or remedial life-style intervention,and the levels of lipids profiles,insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR),serum resistin,TNF-α and IL-6 were measured before and after treatment.Results The levels of total cholesterol [ (4.45 ±0.60)mmol/L vs (5.58 ±0.96) mmol/L,t =-5.42,P ＜0.01],HOMA-IR [3.22 ±0.64 vs 3.58 ±0.71,t =-2.05,P ＜0.05) ],resistin[ (1.97 ±0.72) μg/L vs (2.76 ±0.73) μg/L,t=-4.26,P ＜0.01 ],TNF-α[ (9.36 ±2.03) μg/L vs (13.87 ±2.30)μg/L,t =-8.06,P ＜0.01] and IL-6[ (3.50 ±0.99) μg/L vs (6.32 ±1.17) μg/L,t =-10.06,P ＜0.01 ] in pravastatin group were significantly lower than those in life-style intervention group.Conclusion Pravastatin could improve insulin sensitivity of the patients with IGT and MS,significantly decreased the serum levels of resistin,TNF-α,IL-6,and it had anti-inflammatory effect.
