ABSTRACT

Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS) is a very rare genetically heterogenous disorder. Here is a case of 27 yr. old obese male presented with acute gastroenteritis with shock in our department. He had polydactyly in both upper limb and left lower limb, blindness since childhood, with difficult in learning and delayed onset of milestones. Patient抯 sibling (younger brother 20-year-old) also had same problems since childhood and one female baby died within few days of birth. He was having single testis. Patient was managed conservatively. The available literature on this syndrome was reviewed.

ABSTRACT

En el presente artículo se brinda un análisis histórico y pedagógico de la formación médica en Cuba a partir del triunfo revolucionario. Se identifican las tendencias pedagógicas por las que discurre dicha formación, lo que caracteriza el movimiento del proceso en cada etapa históricamente determinada por estos autores. Este análisis permitió revelar 3 etapas, a partir de los principales hitos en el proceso de formación en valores del médico después de la Reforma Universitaria de 1962 hasta 2018 en Cuba y se precisó en cada una de ellas la concepción del proceso formativo del profesional de la carrera de medicina, así como las limitaciones metodológicas y didácticas del valor responsabilidad en dicho proceso.


A historical and pedagogical analysis of the medical training in Cuba from the revolutionary victory on, is presented in this work. The pedagogical tendencies through which this training goes are identified, what characterizes the movement of the process in each historically determined stage by these authors. This analysis allowed to reveal 3 stages, from the main landmarks in the values training process after the University Reform of 1962 to 2018 in Cuba and it was stated in each of them the conception of the professional training process for the medicine career, as well as the methodological and didactic limitations of the value responsibility in this process.

ABSTRACT

The Milestones has become an important component of Graduate Medical Education (GME) of the United States, and the Milestones Guidebook (2016) can help understand and implement the Milestones and improve graduate medical education and practice.This article outlines the basic principles of the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) and the Milestones, introduces the guidelines and responsibilities of related stakeholders in Implementing and Using Milestones Effectively, and highlights the Importance of Assessment and Feedback.The Milestones includes 6 core competencies to be achieved in skills, knowledge, and behaviors, its formative process, the causes of its development, and its effective implement and application.The Milestones is the development of CBME and designed to help all practitioners make highly competent physicians.The primary objective of this program is to cultivate trustworthy medical graduates and provide high-quality health care to the general public.

ABSTRACT
