ABSTRACT

Dermoscopy is a noninvasive technique that is known to increase the accuracy of diagnosing benign versus malignant skin lesions. Milia en plaque is a rare benign epidermal tumor characterized by multiple milia-like lesions within the erythematous edematous base. It arises spontaneously on healthy skin in predisposed individuals without any apparent cause. An 80-year-old woman presented with a solitary coin-sized yellowish to brown plaque on the right cheek. The lesion has been enlarging for several years. Dermoscopic examination showed arborizing telangiectasia, and we suspected it to be basal cell carcinoma. Two biopsies were taken from the lesion, which revealed a keratin-filled cyst lined by a stratified epithelium of a few cell layers and sparse lymphocytic infiltration. Therefore, we diagnosed the lesion as milia en plaque, histopathologically. On the basis of our experience with a case of milia en plaque diagnosed as a basal cell carcinoma with dermoscopic findings, we believe that benign lesions should be considered even in the presence of malignant findings on dermoscopy.

ABSTRACT

Milia en plaque (MEP) is an unusual and rare variant of milia characterized by tiny papules overlying an erythematous plaque. The majority of cases have been described as occurring around the ears. The histopathologic finding is consistent with milia. Despite its benign nature and lack of symptoms, MEP raises cosmetic concerns. We report a case of MEP occurring on the left 3rd finger, an unusual location, in a 2-year-old girl.

ABSTRACT

Milia en plaque is designated as an atypical subtype of milia which is characterized by a group of milia on an erythematous base. It usually arises spontaneously in predisposed persons without any apparent causative factor and commonly occurs on the periauricular area. Histopathologic finding is consistent with milia and treatment is not established. We report a case of milia en plaque produced by physical stress in the right arm.

ABSTRACT

Milia en plaque is characterized by multiple milia-like lesions within an erythematous plaque. Milia en plaque is a rarely reported entity which usually appears in the auricular region. We report the case of a 72-year-old woman who presented with milia en plaque on the left arm after NSAIDs injection. This is a rare case because there are no records of Milia en Plaque occurring on an arm in Korea.

ABSTRACT

Milia en plaque (MEP) is a rarely-described benign, cutaneous dermatosis, characterized by numerous tiny milia within an erythematous base which usually occurs around the ears. We report a case of a well-defined, linear MEP arising from the right side of the forehead to the nasal bridge. This case is of particular interest as the site of occurrence is uncommon and the shape of lesion is atypical.

ABSTRACT

Milia en plaque is an unusual and rare variant of milia which is characterized by numerous tiny milia on an erythematous base that arise spontaneously on the retroauricular area. We report a case of milia en plaque of 41-year-old Korean man who presented with numerous milia on the erythematous plaque of the retroauricular area. Histopathologic examination showed multiple cystic features with lamellar keratinized material in the cysts and mild pericystic inflammation. The skin lesion was totally excised and closed with a modified rhomboid transposition flap. We discuss about the treatment of milia en plaque in the review of literature.

ABSTRACT

Milia en plaque(MEP) is an unusual eruption characterized by multiple milia-like lesions within an erythematous edematous plaque in the retroauricular area. The histopathological findings are consistent with milia. We report a case of MEP occurring on the bilateral retroauricular area and occipital scalp. To our knowledge, a case which has developed on the scalp has not been reported previously. The absence of a known etiologic factor in contrast to the previously published causes suggests that the present case belongs to the group of primary milia.

ABSTRACT

Milia en plaque is characterixed by multiple milia-like lesions within an erythematous edematous plaque in the postauricular area. The histopathological findings are those of milia. We report a case of milia en plaque occurring on the scapha's fossa of the left auricle in a 3-year-old boy.
