ABSTRACT

Lipoma is the most common benign soft tissue mesenchymal neoplasm, which occasionally occurs in the oral cavity. It has many variants such as infiltrating lipoma, fibrolipoma, angiolipoma, spindle cell/pleomorphic lipoma, myxolipoma, chondroid lipoma, osteolipoma, and myolipoma. Myolipoma is a rare benign lipomatous soft tissue tumor which is diagnosed histologically because of presence of irregularly admixed mature adipose tissue and smooth muscle fibers. The most common site of its occurrence is retroperitoneum, abdominal and pelvic cavity, and the abdominal wall. Rarely myolipomas occur in the oral and maxillofacial region. Here, we present a rare case of intraoral myolipoma present in the buccal mucosa of a 6-year-old child.

ABSTRACT

Giant lipomatous lesions of the thigh swelling with extension into retroperitoneum are rare. Lesions can be malignant or benign and can have similar clinical presentation. Treatments options differ and their prognosis varies with histology. We present two cases of liposarcoma and lipoma with the same clinical presentations that underwent surgical resection.

ABSTRACT

A myolipoma is an extremely rare benign neoplasm, occurring most frequently in adults in the deep soft tissue of the abdomen or retroperitoneum. We experienced a case of an anal myolipoma occurring in a 30-year-old woman, and it was surgically resected. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a myolipoma arising from the anus, so such a possibility needs to be considered in the differential diagnosis.

ABSTRACT

Myolipoma is a rare benign tumor, composed of irregularly admixed adipose tissue and smooth muscle fibers. Few literature studies have described the radiologic appearance of myolipoma, especially in the soft tissue. No MRI findings in subcutaneous myolipoma of an extremity have been reported. Here, we report on the case of a 34-year-old woman with myolipoma in the subcutaneous tissue of the ankle and describe MRI features of the lesion.

ABSTRACT

Myolipoma is a rare biphasic, benign neoplasm that consists of mature adipocytes and smooth muscle cells. It is well-demarcated, with a soft to slimy yellow-white cut surface. Clinically it most often occurs within soft tissue in the abdominal cavity or retroperitoneum, but other locations such as the round ligaments, pericardium, and eyelid have been reported. We herein report a rare case of myolipoma which arose on the right upper lip area in a 68-year-old female.
