ABSTRACT

Objective:A structural equation model of the influencing factors on caregiver preparedness at discharge of patients with chronic heart failure was constructed based on the individual and family self-management theory, and the main paths influencing caregiver preparedness were explored. Methods:This study was a cross-sectional survey. A total of 345 caregivers of patients with chronic heart failure who were hospitalized in the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University from October 2020 to August 2021 were selected as research objects by convenience sampling method, and they were investigated by Caregiver Preparedness Scale, Family APGAR Index, Herth Hope Index, Social Support-Rating Scale, Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire. The influencing factors on caregiver preparedness at discharge of patients with chronic heart failure were analyzed. Results:The total score of Caregiver Preparedness Scale, Family APGAR Index, Herth Hope Index, Social Support-Rating Scale, and Positive and Negative Coping Subscale of Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire in patients with chronic heart failure was (20.79 ± 4.92), (8.05 ± 1.43), (35.34 ± 4.47), (43.89 ± 6.56), (24.38 ± 5.21), (11.21 ± 4.26) points. Caregiver preparedness in patients with chronic heart failure was positively correlated with family function, hope, positive coping and social support ( r values were 0.213-0.383, all P<0.01), and negatively correlated with negative coping ( r=-0.546, P<0.01). Family function and social support in patients with chronic heart failure could directly or indirectly affect caregiver preparedness (total effect value: 0.380, 0.212), hope and negative coping directly affected caregiver preparedness (total effect value: 0.200, -0.433), and could account for 39% of the total variation in caregiver preparedness. Conclusions:Caregiver preparedness of patients with chronic heart failure needs further improvement. The effective ways to improve caregiver preparedness are to pay attention to family function, improve hope level, increase social support and reduce negative coping.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the relationship between the level of mindfulness, illness uncertainty, negative coping style and fear of recurrence in patients after radical resection of gastric cancer, and to understand the internal mechanism of how mindfulness affects the fear of recurrence. Methods:This was a cross sectional survey. From January 2019 to March 2021, the convenience sampling method was used to select 227 patients undergoing radical gastric cancer surgery in the Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medial University of Chinese PLA as the research objects. The general information questionnaire, Mindfulness Attention and Awareness Scale, Fear of Disease Progression Simplified Scale, Mishel′s Illness Uncertainty Scale and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire were used for questionnaire surveys. The relationship between the level of mindfulness, illness uncertainty, negative coping style and fear of recurrence was explored and the model was tested. Results:The returned questionnaires were 207 with a recovery rate of 91.19%(207/227). Pearson correlation analysis showed that the level of mindfulness was negatively correlated with illness uncertainty, negative coping style, and fear of recurrence ( r=-0.176, -0.269, -0.480, all P<0.01). Illness uncertainty, negative coping styles were positively correlated with fear of recurrence ( r=0.433, 0.420, both P<0.01). The mediation model test showed that mindfulness had a significant direct effect on fear of relapse (effect value was -0.220), illness uncertainty and negative coping styles had significant partial mediating effect between mindfulness level and fear of recurrence (effect value were -0.036, -0.030). And the chain mediating effect of illness uncertainty and negative coping style was also significant (effect value was -0.006). Conclusions:The level of mindfulness can not only have a direct impact on the fear of recurrence in patients after radical gastrectomy, but also indirectly affect the fear of recurrence through the chain mediating effect of illness uncertainty, negative coping style, and disease uncertainty→negative coping style.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the psychological distress, and examine the effects of acculturative stress, positive coping, and negative coping and their interaction on psychological distress among international students in China. Methods: Totally 373 international students were surveyed from central China [being in China of (2. 2 ± 1. 7) years, 248 males, and 125 females]. Psychological distress was measured with the short version of Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI-18), acculturative stress was measured with the Acculturative Stress Scale for International Students (ASSIS), and positive coping (PC) and negative coping (NC) were measured with the Cope Inventory (COPE). Results: The average score of BSI-18 was (0. 66 ± 0. 72). The BSI-18 scores were positively correlated with the scores of ASSIS and NC (r = 0. 49, 0. 31, Ps < 0. 001). Multiple regression showed that the scores of ASSIS, NC, and interaction of ASSIS and NC were positively correlated with the BSI-18 scores (β = 0. 43, 0. 19, 0. 26). Conclusion: Acculturative stress and negative coping are important related factors for psychological distress, and for students suffering higher acculturative stress, the effect of negative coping on psychological distress is larger.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the mediating effects of neuropeptide S receptor 1 and negative coping in chronic stress induced emotional responses. Methods A survey of 366 local residents who were chosen from County of Nandan in Guangxi Province by stratified random sampling method. Questionnaires of the life events scale (LES),the simplified symptom checklist and the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ) were used. The level of NPSR1 was measured by Elisa. Data was analyzed by SPSS 21 and AMOS 21 statistical software for statistical analysis. Results The level of chronic psychological stress was (25. 24± 29. 26) and score of negative coping was(14. 84±4. 35). Somatic factor, anxiety factor, depressive factor and hostile factor were (1. 58±0. 58),(1. 43±0. 56),(1. 44±0. 55),(1. 23±0. 37). The total score of life e-vents was positively correlated with negative coping, somatic factor score, anxiety factor score, depression fac-tor score(r=0. 23-0. 46,P<0. 05),while negatively correlated with the expression level of detection of NPSR1 in plasma(r=-0. 26,P<0. 05). NPSR1 level was negatively correlated with body factor score, anxiety factor score, depression factor score and hostility factor score(r=-0. 18--0. 61,P<0. 05). Negative coping was positively correlated with body factor score, anxiety factor score, depression factor score and hostility fac-tor score(r=0. 12- 0. 27,P<0. 05). Both neuropeptide S receptor 1 and negative response had significant me- diating effects on emotional responses induced by chronic psychological stress (P<0. 05),and the effect val-ues were -0. 08 and 0. 05,respectively. According to the Bootstrapping method, the results of the mediation model showed that Bias-Corrected of 95% CI of the total standardization effect, the indirect standardization effect, the direct standardization effect were not including 0. Conclusion NPSR1 and negative coping plays a dual mediating effect on stress induced emotional responses.
