ABSTRACT

A new name for the Neotropical genus Aniarella Enderlein (Diptera, Sciaridae). A junior homonym was detected among neotropical sciarid flies genera and the following replacement name is proposed: Novaniarella nom. nov. for Aniarella Enderlein, 1911 (nec Bolivar, 1906). Accordingly, new combinations are herein proposed for the species currently included in this genus: Novaniarella azteca (Lane, 1959) comb. nov., Novaniarella brevis (Rubsaamen, 1894) comb. nov. and Novaniarella pelluscens (Enderlein, 1911) comb. nov.

ABSTRACT

The moth Copitarsia decolora: a review of the species complex based on egg and male genital morphology (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Copitarsia decolora is a widely distributed polyphagous species with a large number of nominal changes due to phenotypic plasticity. We reviewed 14 males from Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Chile and the literature produced between 2003 and 2008. An analysis of the clasper complex of C. decolora male genitalia was performed by standard dissection. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) photographs of eggs structures were used as taxonomic characters. The genus Copitarsia comprises 23 species. C. corruda is considered a synonym of C. decolora. Rev. Biol. Trop. 58 (2): 769-776. Epub 2010 June 02.

ABSTRACT

In the present paper, the valid names of 101 taxa of new species, new subspecies and new combinations of the genera Nasa and Aosa (Loasaceae: Cornales) are published. The invalid names of these taxa were originally published in various articles in the last ten years. This publication is carried out on the basis of the changes in the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature approved in the International Botanical Congress (IBC) in Viena, 2005. For each taxon the valid names, protologue citation and type are provided, in the case of the 41 new species and subspecies a latin diagnosis is included, as per requirement ot the Code. We additionally provide the citation for the original, invalid publication and corresponding illustration of the taxon. The taxon list here provided represents a complete list of all taxa currently known in the genus Nasa, including the species recently validated in TAXON.

ABSTRACT

Digamacris, a new genus of the Dichroplini (Acrididae, Melanoplinae) is described for the species Pezotettix amoenus Stal, 1878 and Dichroplus fratemus Carl, 1916, both included at present in the genus Dichroplus. These species live in edges and clearings of the Atlantic Forest (Mata Atlantica) of Brazil. D. fratemus is found in the states of Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro east of the Bay of Guanabara. D. amoenus in the state of Rio de Janeiro W. of the Bay of Guanabara and in the coastal area of the state of São Paulo. The species are illustrated and redescribed. Both have two neatly different chromatic forms of females, while the males are uniform in coloration and closely correspond with one of the female forms.
