ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the current status of emotional intelligence of standardized training nurses and explore the influencing factors. Methods:A total of 312 standardized training nurses from the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University were investigated from May to June 2020 with general information questionnaire and Nurses′ Emotional Intelligence Scale, and analyze the influencing factors of nurses′ emotional intelligence during the standar dized training period. Results:The total score of standardized training nurses′ emotional intelligence was (59.01 ± 8.24), the scoring rate was 73.76%, and the total average score of items was (3.69 ± 0.52). The average scores of the four dimensions from low to high were: self emotion assessment (3.86 ± 0.66), self emotion management (3.67 ± 0.71), self emotion application (3.64 ± 0.67) and emotion assessment of others (3.58 ± 0.65). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that political outlook, whether it was an only child, and training time and willingness to engage in nursing work for a long time were the main influencing factors of standardized training nurses′ emotional intelligence, accounting for 32.6% of the variance. Conclusions:The emotional intelligence of standardized training nurses is at the medium level, which needs to be further improved. Hospital managers need to carry out positive intervention combined with relevant influencing factors to cultivate more excellent nursing talents for clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the standardized training needs of new nurses in Yunnan province and provide scientific basis for the formulation of standardized training programs for new nurses. Methods:From December 2019 to September 2020, nurses from all 5 provincial tertiary Class A hospitals in Yunnan Province were selected as the research objects. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 712 nurses selected by the convenience sampling method, among which 456 were new nurses and 256 were senior nurses. The questionnaire was designed by the research team based on the Training Outline for Newly Recruited Nurses, which mainly included three dimensions of knowledge, skills and attitude. Results:The total score of new nurses and senior nurses on standardized training requirements for new nurses were (575.32 ± 85.76) points and (583.16 ± 86.32) points, which were above the average level. There was no statistically significant difference between the scores of training theme needs of new nurses and those of senior nurses ( t value was -1.168, P>0.05). Conclusions:The total score of standardized training needs of new nurses is above the average level, and the demand for knowledge dimension in standardized training of new nurses is the strongest. It is suggested to develop a systematic and scientific standardized training plan for new nurses according to the training needs and training methods.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the current status of emotional labor of nurses in standardized training period, and to analyze the relationship between emotional labor and emotional intelligence. Methods:From May to June 2020, 312 nurses in the standardized training period were selected as the research objects, which were investigated with general information questionnaire, Emotional Labor Scale and Emotional Intelligence Scale. Results:The total score of standardized training nurses' emotional labor was (52.27±10.18) points, and the total average score of items was (3.73±0.73) points. The average scores of the three dimensions from high to low: deep acting (4.62±0.86) points, expression of genuine emotion (3.62±0.99) points and surface acting (3.42±0.95) points. There was a correlation between emotional intelligence and emotional labor. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the emotional evaluation of others ( β value was -0.189, P<0.05) ( β value was -0.255, P<0.01). Self emotional assessment ( β value was 0.297, P<0.01) ( β value was 0.177, P<0.05). Self emotional assessment ( β value was 0.269, P<0.05), which had a positive predictive effect on emotional expression requirements. Conclusions:The emotional labor of nurses in standardized training period is at the medium level, and the deep acting score is the highest between three dimensions. Hospital managers could promote nurses to use appropriate emotional labor strategies by strengthening the cultivation of emotional intelligence during standardized training period.

ABSTRACT

Objective: We examined complications of the downstream aorta after the frozen elephant trunk (FET) procedure. Methods: Complications were diagnosed in eight patients: true aneurysm alone in five patients; type A aortic dissection in two patients; and both true aneurysm and type B aortic dissection in one patient. Results: Elective surgery was performed in seven patients. Five patients received a Matsui-Kitamura stent graft (MKS) and three patients received a J Graft Open Stent Graft (JGOSG). The FET procedure was successfully applied in all cases. Over the long term, dilatation of the descending thoracic aorta (dTA) alone was identified in two patients and dilatation of the dTA and migration was identified in three patients using the MKS. Complications of graft kinking and migration were seen in one patient and distal stent graft-induced new entry in two patients using the JGOSG. Thoracic aortic stent graft repair was successfully performed for complications in seven patients. Conclusion: For the improvement of clinical results, FET devices need to offer flexibility and appropriate radial force.

ABSTRACT

We report a 41-year-old man who presented with a ruptured dissecting aneurysm of the descending aorta. He had undergone aortic root replacement for an acute aortic dissection (Stanford type A) ; 8 months later, he had undergone total arch replacement with insertion of a frozen elephant trunk (FET) due to enlargement of the chronic dissecting aneurysm of the arch. FET-induced new entry and incomplete thrombosis occurred postoperatively. Three months after FET insertion, he developed an aortic rupture that required emergency replacement of the descending aorta. The patient tolerated the procedure well and was discharged 16 days after the operation.

ABSTRACT

We report a case of a 53-year-old woman, who was transported as an emergency case to our institution because of type A acute aortic dissection. Total arch replacement and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with open stent graft was performed. After the operation, during rehabilitation for discharge (33 and 38 days after the surgery), she developed acute arterial occlusion of the right lower limb, and we performed thrombectomy. Both thrombi extracted from the right common femoral artery were organized clots. No perioperative arrhythmia was observed, and no obvious left atrial appendage thrombus was observed on CT. We performed angiography to diagnose the cause of the spread of organized clots, and an entry was detected at the distal tip of the open stent graft, and antegrade blood flow in a false lumen was observed. We considered that the thrombus was caused by the antegrade blood flow in a false lumen, TEVAR (c-TAG) was performed to seal the entry 48 days after the surgery. Embolism did not occur afterward, and the patient was discharged for rehabilitation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the effect of using"metronome"to guide chest compression in the new nurse training of cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR). Methods From 2015 to 2016,385 new nurses were enrolled and randomly by random number table divided into four groups based on Solomon four-group design:control group 1(96 nurses),sudy group 1(89 nurses),control group 2(104 nurses) and study group 2(96 nurses),Control group 1 and control group 2 accepted normal training plus "chest compressions operation formula" training, study group 1 and study group 2 got "metronome" guiding based on the frequency training.Control group 1 and study group 1 took a baseline test before the training started, while control group 2 and study group 2 didn't.Four groups took part in an operational test after the seven days of training. Results There was no statistical difference between the baseline test scores of control group 1 and study group 1(P>0.05).After the training, the score of study group 1 was 93.4±3.5, which was significantly higher than 91.6 ± 4.7 of control group 1(t=-2.870, P<0.01).Through covariance analysis, after removing the impact of the baseline test score, the score of study group was statistically significant higher than that of control group 1 (F=7.33, P=0.007).Furthermore,there was no statistically significant interaction between the baseline test score and training method (P>0.05).Meanwhile,after training, study group 2 scores was 93.5±3.5,which was statistically higher than 92.1±4.0 of control group 2(t=2.670,P=0.008).Control group 1 were combined with control 2 to form control group,as well as study group 1 with study group 2 to form study group.A comparison between these two new groups indicates that the new study group surpasses the new control group with lower error frequencies in the position, depth and frequency of external cardiac compression (t=4.701 8, 12.488 9, 11.993 9, P<0.05).In addition, the study group also showed a better performance, when taking into consideration of the region and skills of compression and the observation of complexion, while there was no statistical difference between the error frequencies in these three aspects of these two new groups(P>0.05). Conclusions In the CPR training of new nurses, using a 100 times/min"metronome"can help new nurses grasp the accurate compression rates and depth, improve the overall quality of this procedure, making it a simple and effective training method, which is worthy of popularization.
