ABSTRACT

Objective To comprehend the real experience of nurses and physicians towards nurse-physician collaboration in tertiary general hospital of Chongqing, thus to investigate and analyze its status and influencing factors. Methods A qualitative study was conducted to explore 17 nurses and physicians from different departments in tertiary general hospital of Chongqing. The data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi method. Results Three themes were extracted:the nurse-physician collaboration was the common requirement for nurses and physicians;the scale of the nurse-physician collaboration seemed to be limited and needed to be further enhanced;nurse-physician collaboration was influenced by multiple factors. Conclusions The necessity of nurse-physician collaboration is highly approved by nurses and physicians. The physicians and nurses should develop the ideas of nurse-physician collaboration, perform multiple activities of nurse-physician collaboration, improve nurse- physician communication, establish policy system of nurse- physician collaboration, and promote the full implementation of the nurse-physician collaboration.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the current state of nurse leaders′leadership and nurse physician cooperation, to explore the relationship between them, and to provide reference for improving nurse physician cooperation situation. Methods Totally 193 nurse leaders were recruited who were participated in Anhui nursing management training courses. A series of questionnaires were used to collect data, including general information, competency inventory for registered nurse, nurse physician cooperation scale. Results One hundred and eighty- two questionnaires were valid. The score of nurse managers′leadership was (27.85±6.27) points,while the score of nurse physician cooperation scale was (68.31±11.67) points. Hierarchical regression analysis showed that the control of general information, leadership for the interpretation of the nurse physician cooperation level increased by 27.3% (△R2 = 0.273, P = 0.000). Conclusions Hospital managers can adopt effective strategies to raise the level of nurses' leadership, which further increases the nurse physician cooperation level.

ABSTRACT

Objective To enhance the management in identifying the surgical sites to comply with national standards.Methods A nurse-physician collaboration management team was set up to investigate the current identification of surgical sites in every operating room which violates regulations,with the causes analyzed and countermeasures proposed.Working hand in hand,doctors and nurses figured out the management details for preoperatively identifying the surgical sites and reengineering of the surgical process.With the responsibilities clarified and training enhanced,the surgeons,anesthesiologists,ward nurses and operating room nurses were held responsible for the process and improvements of identifying the surgical sites.The number of patients with unreasonable identification of surgical sites was calculated before and after establishment of nurse-physician collaboration management team.Results The reasonable identification rates of surgical sites were 37.94% before the reform and 80.94% after;incorrect use of all types of the surgical site identification can be minimized in the reform.Conclusion The management of nurse-physician collaboration is conducive to enhancing the reasonable identification rate of surgical sites,thus improving the quality of care and correctness of operations.

ABSTRACT

Quality of care is key to medical safety which has a close bearing on patients’life and health,and on the branding and efficiency of the hospital.Medical safety is one of the key indicators of the overall performance appraisal of the hospital.This novel type of nurse-physician collaboration,abandoning the traditional model of health care,is a new integrated model of health care which improves the overall quality of care,enhances medical safety and patient satisfaction.This paper described in detail the implementation methods and steps of the collaboration,the progress of such a collaboration and its contribution to medical safety are also discussed.
