ABSTRACT
Objective:To study the effect of nursing English teaching combining with humanistic care educa-tion. Methods:Six classes of nursing students of 2011 grade were chosen randomly by sampling as control and ex-perimental group. The control group used the traditional teaching method without humanistic care education. The experimental group combined humanistic care education with nursing English teaching. Nursing students' humanistic caring ability scale and self-designed questionnaire were used to compare the teaching effects of the two groups. Results:The humanistic caring ability of experimental group was higher than that of the control group ( P<0 . 05 ) . The experimental group gives high evaluation on the effect of nursing English combining with humanistic care edu-cation. Conclusion:Nursing English combining with humanistic care education helps to improve nursing students' humanistic concern consciousness and enhance their humanistic caring ability.
ABSTRACT
Objective To analyze and consider the design for nursing English course through the investigation of demands for nursing English in 6 domestic high-end medical institutions.Methods Firstly,a face-to-face discussion was held with 10 experts in nursing management from above-mentioned institutions,field notes were made and themes were refined afterwards.Then,111 nurses were investigated in the 6 hospitals using purposive sampling method by filling questionnaire.Results In the teaching content,77 kinds of diseases were involved,including 27 most common ones; on the aspect of teaching methods and skills,90.1％ of the nurses recommended situational dialogue,72.1％ in favor of case teaching,92.8％ believed that nursing English course should cultivate students' communication skills; Its teaching emphasis in turn included vocabulary,communication capability,nursing knowledge (89.2％,88.3％,73.0％).Conclusions The objective of nursing English course should focus on cultivating nurse students' applied capability including listening,reading,speaking and written English.The textbook of nursing English should be written based on the characteristics of common diseases in the hospital stressing on nursing knowledge,vocabulary and communication skills.Teaching method of nursing English should consider the situational teaching model in hospital nursing English.
ABSTRACT
This study designed a studio English classroom which was based on foreign nursing jobs related language.It included high-frequency words,foreign nurse-patient dialogue,and European and American nursing video which was foreign patients’ nursing procedures oriented.The studio classroom was characterized as interactive internet platform.It provided a complete system for input and output in English language,and motivated students to learn nursing English.Therefore,it improved students’ professional verbal competencies.
ABSTRACT
Objective To study the anxiety status about nursing English learning and its related factors,and to provide references for nursing English teaching.Methods Nursing English learning anxiety scale and influencing factors of anxiety questionnaire were used to investigate 204 nursing majors among 4 medical universities in Guangxi.Results Of 204 nursing majors,mean score of anxiety was 3.124.26.5％ students were in high level,44.6％ students were in medium level,and 28.9％ students were in low level.Nursing English learning anxiety had positive relations with its related factors.The changes of Nursing English learning anxiety were significantly related with academic pressures,school and society interference,curriculum difficulty and family factors.Conclusions Nursing English learning anxiety were affected by several factors,and more helps from different aspects should be given to reduce the students' anxiety and improve the learning effectiveness.
ABSTRACT
Objective To understand the learning needs of nursing students for nursing English in senior high vocational school.Methods A survey was carried out among 982 three-year nursing students in grade 2007-2009 in Cangzhou medical college by questionnaire.The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics with SPSS 17.0.Results Most students (93.0％) believed that nursing English was important and had a strong desire for most English skills,especially speaking and listening ability.They (90.7％) expected nursing teachers to take charge of or participate in teaching work and some students (30.6％) were dissatisfied with teaching material.They depended on teachers' instruction and preferred learning in real situations.Conclusions Nursing students in senior high vocational school have strong needs for nursing English,but there is a gap between current teaching situation and learning needs,which the course designers and teachers should take into full consideration in order to make the teaching more effective.
ABSTRACT
Objective To find out the relationship between anxiety and nursing English reading achievement,and to provide references for teaching and learning of nursing English reading among ethnic minority region.Methods Nursing English Reading Anxiety Scale and nursing English reading tests were used to collect data,and 261 nursing students were chosen randomly from one of the Medical University in Baise as the research respondents.Results Students' anxiety level of nursing English reading was high (19.9％),medium (38.9％) and low (41.2％).Anxiety and nursing English reading achievement were negatively related.The Han nationality and ethnic minority students had significantly difference in the anxiety and nursing English reading achievement.Conclusions In order to improve the effectiveness of nursing English teaching and learning,the appropriate strategies to reduce the students' anxiety should be carried out.
