ABSTRACT

Objective: The objective of this research was to generate a valid and reliable version of the taormina organizational socialization inventory (OSI) for the Mexican population, validated by Bravo-Sánz (2001). Method: Based on the scores obtained in the OSI, a confirmatory factor analysis was carried out in AMOS 23,0 with maximum likelihood with the 20 original items and factors (training, peer support, understanding and future perspectives). The sample was made up of 489 workers with a mean age of 36 years. Results: The results of the CFA showed that, although the model adjusted adequately with the original items, the validity and reliability of the construct were only obtained by reducing the number of factors, discarding the comprehension factor. A model fit CMIN/DF= 2,02, CFI=0,97, AGFI= 0,94, RMSEA 0,046, SRMR .038 was obtained. Conclusions: A valid model (AVE >0,50) was achieved in all its factors and a reliable one (CR>0,74) in all its elements with a total of 11 items with their scales for the population. This version of the socialization inventory can be used in the Mexican population, which will affect organizational, administrative, psychological research with various themes to determine adaptation to organizational culture.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: To assess impact of tear optics on repeatability of a Scheimpflug device with a Hartmann Shack aberrometer and a ray tracing aberrometer. Methods: One hundred healthy and 100 postrefractive surgery eyes underwent dry eye evaluation including Schirmer抯 test and tear film break?up time (TBUT). They underwent optical quality analyzer (OQAS, Visio metrics S.L, Terrassa, Spain) to assess objective scatter index (OSI), three scans each on Pentacam AXL wave (OCULUS Optikgerate Gmbh, Wetzlar, Germany), iTrace (Tracey Technologies, Texas, USA) for flat, steep keratometry, thinnest corneal thickness, root mean square higher?order aberrations (RMS HOA), RMS lower?order aberrations (LOA), spherical aberrations, RMS COMA. Repeatability of Pentacam AXL wave and iTrace in healthy and postrefractive eyes (OSI >1 vs OSI <1) was studied using within?subject standard deviation (Sw) test杛etest repeatability (TRT), coefficient of variation (COV). Results: OSI showed an inverse association with TBUT (P < 0.001). All measurements with Pentacam AXL wave with OSI < 1 had excellent repeatability, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) ranging from 0.88 for HOA, to 0.92 for LOA. The Sw, TRT, and COV of all aberration measurements were significantly lower (better) than those of iTrace. In eyes with OSI ?1, the repeatability with Pentacam AXL wave dropped with ICC ranging from 0.77 for HOA, to 0.84 for LOA with lower Sw, TRT, and COV of all aberration measurements as compared to iTrace. Maximum variation was seen with HOA and minimum with LOA. Conclusion: Tear optics affected repeatability of Pentacam wave and iTrace. Pentacam wave had better repeatability in eyes with a poor tear film as compared to iTrace. Thus, the tear film can impact repeatability of an instrument and it is important to assess the tear film prior to imaging patients, which can change the way we interpret and image these patients.

ABSTRACT

Borrowing the open system interconnection (OSI) model of internet protocol and the 5W theory in communication studies, the links in the international communication of acupuncture-moxibustion can be classified into seven layers: physical layer, data link layer, network layer, transport layer, session layer, presentation layer and application layer, therefore it is built an OSI model of international communication system of acupuncture-moxibustion. It is pointed out that present international communication system of acupuncture-moxibustion is similar to the user datagram protocol (UDP) in internet technology. Evidence-based medicine (EBM) plays a key role to modernize acupuncture- moxibustion theory based upon its clinical effects. According to phenomenon-taking by classified analogy, it is found that the PICO model of EBM agrees pretty well with the "three-way handshakes" mechanism of the internet transmission control protocol (TCP), which is promising to construct an international discourse of acupuncture-moxibustion compatible with western medicine. Thus it will benefit to explore the scientific connotation of acupuncture-moxibustion theory and significantly improve the international prestige of acupuncture-moxibustion.

ABSTRACT

Background: The glenohumeral joint consists of dynamic and static stabilizer, which works, in concert to allow for stability and mobility through a large arc of motion, in recent years there has been significant focus on shoulder motion, particularly in overhead throwing athletes. Glenohumeral internal rotation deficits (GIRD) are common physical impairments in evaluated both adolescent and overhead sports such as baseball, cricket, and tennis. Therefore the aim of the study firstly was to determine the effectiveness of mobilization with exercise in patients with glenohumeral internal rotation deficit and secondly to determine whether mulligan internal rotation MWM with stretching in patients with glenohumeral internal rotation deficit. Materials and methods: 60 patients were included in the study which was divided into two groups; Group A and Group B, 30 patients in each group. All the subjects were randomly selected and assigned to each group. A pretest measurement with the help of two measures - Oxford Shoulder Instability Score (OSI) for disability, and inclinometer for an internal range of motion shoulder was Sreenivasu Kotagiri, Anup Kumar Songa, Mayuri Vijay Gad, Jaideep Lad. Effectiveness of Mobilization with Exercise V/S Mulligan Internal Rotation MWM with Stretching in Patient with Glenohumeral Internal Rotation Deficit. IAIM, 2018; 5(5): 138-145. Page 139 done in each group. Subjects in Group-A were given mobilizations with stabilization exercise for capsule for a total of 12 minutes a minimum of 4 times per week over a 4-week period and Group-B were given mulligan mobilization with Posterior Capsule Stretching As follows, 1st day 3 glides, 2 nd day 3 sets of six glides, 3rd day 3 sets of 10 glides were given and 4th day again 3 sets of 10 was given. A patient who failed to come for 4 days with stretching performed 3–5 repetitions each repetition was held for 30 seconds, four days a week for four weeks total 16 sessions. Results: On comparing Group A and Group B for post-treatment OSI score, results showed a significant difference (p=0.001) in improvement in terms of OSI. On comparing Group A and Group B for post-treatment inclinometer score, results showed a significant difference in improvement in terms of the inclinometer. This study showed that Mulligan MWM along with stretching exercises was more effective to that patient as compared to mobilization with strengthening exercises given to a patient with glenohumeral internal rotation deficit. Conclusion: The study showed a significant difference between both the groups when the values obtained were analysed. It indicated that Group B in Range mulligan mobilization with Posterior Capsule Stretching of Motion in internal rotation and external rotation. Their scores in Index Oxford Shoulder Instability Score (OSI) have reduced which indicates the decreased level of disability and better functional ability.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of Optical Quality Analysis System (OQAS(R)) instrument for the assessment of dry eye syndrome. METHODS: Dynamic recording of double-pass (DP) retinal images was performed in 1 eye dry eye patients (20 eyes) and in healthy controls (20 eyes) for 20 seconds after eye blinking. RESULTS: The mean objective scatter Index (OSI) value was 4.53 in dry eyes, 0.67 in healthy eyes and the standard deviation of OSI was 1.20 in dry eyes and 1.18 in healthy eyes. The patients with dry eyes showed significantly higher mean OSI and standard deviation values. Ocular scatter increased over time and significant changes occurred 13.5 seconds after blinking. The difference in OSI value between 0 second and 20 seconds was significantly greater in dry eye patients (4.15) than in controls (0.32). CONCLUSIONS: Ocular scatter increased over time after blinking. The dry eye patients had larger and more variable ocular scatter index than the controls. OQAS(R) may be useful to detect and follow-up tear film-related patient complaints in dry eye syndrome.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To investigate the results using the OQAS and the Pentacam in cataract patients classified according to the type of lens opacity. METHODS: The present study included 124 eyes of 92 patients who had cataract surgery at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital from December 2011 to January 2012 and were classified into nuclear, cortical, and posterior subcapsular cataract patients. The lens opacity was determined with OSI, MTF, Strehl ratio, width 10%, width 50% and the opacity of Scheimpflug image by the OQAS and the Pentacam. Additionally, the correlation between subjective cataract classification and objective opacity value was analyzed. RESULTS: The nuclear cataract group showed a 6.40 +/- 2.41 OSI value and had high opacity. The cortical cataract group showed the highest MTF cut-off value (12.02 +/- 6.19 C/deg). When evaluating Pentacam results, the posterior subcapsular cataract group had the lowest average level of lens opacity (9.12 +/- 1.08) followed by in increasing order, the cortical cataract group (9.79 +/- 1.67) and the nuclear cataract group (11.08 +/- 1.84). The results were statistically significant (p < 0.001). The OSI value of the OQAS was significantly correlated with nuclear and posterior opacity (p = 0.049, p = 0.039, respectively) except cortical opacity (p = 0.781). MTF and nuclear opacity showed statistically significant correlation and the lens opacity of Pentacam was correlated with nuclear and posterior opacities. In cortical cataract with severe peripheral opacity, the cortical opacity showed significant correlation with Maximum. CONCLUSIONS: The OQAS and Pentacam results showed high correlation with the nuclear and posterior opacities which can be useful for cataract surgery.

ABSTRACT

Objective To conduct a comprehensive study on pulsatile blood flow in arteries by proposing a convenient theoretical research system for hemodynamics. Methods Based on Womersley algorithm for fully developed pulsatile flow, numerical algorithm was introduced to establish the solving and analytical system of hemodynamics based on flow rate in arteries during one cardiac cycle. The flow rate of carotid artery in pig was measured under three blood flow states: the ideal state with a sinusoidal inflow waveform, the normal physiological state and the enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) state for comprehensive hemodynamic research. Results Important hemodynamic parameters such as the axial speed vector, the wall shear stress (WSS), and the oscillatory shear index (OSI) during one cardiac cycle under the mentioned three flow states were solved respectively. The waveform of flow rate had a certain effect on WSS distributions and OSI level; the EECP performance obviously resulted in a significant increase in the level of WSS (WSS peak in particular) and OSI. Conclusions The solving system developed in this paper can be used for hemodynamics study conveniently and effectively. One of the most important hemodynamic mechanisms that lead to EECP’s good clinical effect may lie in its promotion to WSS level under physiological state, but the effect of OSI on endothelial function of the artery might much smaller than WSS itself; therefore, OSI may not be an ideal hemodynamic index for predicting the lesion of atherosclerosis.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: To evaluate objectively the improvement level of a patient's visual function using the NEI-VFQ-25 questionnaire pre- and post-operatively and the OQAS results from the patient group who had the same corrected visual acuity pre- and post-operatively. METHODS: We examined and compared the NEI-VFQ-25 test, OSI, MTF cut-off, strehl ratio, OQAS, and width at 50% and 10% in 24 eyes of 24 patients who had cataract surgery between December 2011 and February 2012. The patients' corrected visual acuity in both eyes had no change (0.8 and 0.8) pre-operatively and 2 months post-operatively (1.0 and 1.0). RESULTS: The satisfaction level regarding the patients' visual function increased. The NEI-VFQ-25 test was 71.54 +/- 14.88 points pre-operatively and 85.70 +/- 6.17 points post-operatively. OSI decreased to 3.13 +/- 1.66 (OSI value) and 1.53 +/- 0.58 (OSI value), and MTF cut off value improved from 14.51 +/- 6.97 (C/deg) to 27.63 +/- 8.98 (C/deg). Strehl ratio was improved to 0.09 +/- 0.03 and 0.14 +/- 0.03, width at 50% improved to 8.44 +/- 3.73 and 4.52 +/- 1.90 and width at 10% improved to 35.30 +/- 15.22 and 18.04 +/- 8.87 pre- and post-operatively, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The NEI-VFQ-25 test reflected the vision improvement in patients where after cataract surgery, determination of the visual function improvement only through vision would not be possible. In addition, the OQAS showed the quality of vision improved through quantified values.
