ABSTRACT

Professorthinks that the occiput-nape region is the important pivot between the head and the trunk and is the extension of the function zone of the back-points. This zone is named as the occiput-nape function zone. The position includes the occipital area from Baihui (GV 20) to the margo inferior of occipital bone and the muchal region between the margo inferiors of the spinous processto. In the paper, the occiput-nape function zone is verified in terms of the distribution characteristics of meridians and acupoints at the occiput-nape region, the anatomic feature, modern research and clinical application so that a new approach to clinical practice is provided.

ABSTRACT

Folliculosebaceous cystic hamartoma (FSCH) is a recently-recognized cutaneous hamar- toma composed of follicular, sebaceous and mesenchymal elements. We describe an unusual case of FSCH in a 61-year-old male, who had a relatively large, 3x2.5cm sized, smooth subcutaneous nodule on the occipital area of the scalp, an uncommon location for FSCH.

ABSTRACT

@#Objective To observe the management effect of pressure pain point and painful tubercle in occiput-neck part on tension-type headache (TTH). Methods 380 TTH patients were treated by palpating the central and both sides part from the external occipital protuberance to the spinous processes of neck; recording the total number and position of pressure pain points and painful tubercles; kneading, hitting and pressing all recorded pressure pain points and painful tubercles. Results After 1-6 times treatment, 283 were cured and 58 were effected. The efficiency ratio is 89.7%. Conclusion Muscle obstacle in occiput-neck part plays an important role in TTH. Massage therapy has a significant effect on pressure pain points and painful tubercle.

ABSTRACT

1. Although occiput-posterior position may not be a cause of dystocia, it appears that it is of not associated with something (may be abnormal shape of the pelvis) that causes more prolonged labor, with a higher incidence of interventions and a heavier infant mortality2. Anterior rotation, spontaneous or with the aid of the forceps, is the rule in occipitoposterior positions except in cases of gross pelvic deformities, such as marked contraction of the transverse diameter, when anterior rotation would be difficult and dangerous.
