ABSTRACT
O livro Verbal Behavior (1957) foi considerado por seu autor, B. F. Skinner, como sua principal contribuição ao conhecimento. A linguagem é o mais complexo dos comportamentos humanos e tem sido estudado por inúmeras perspectivas. O livro Verbal Behavior foi o foco de muitas controvérsias e deu origem a um grande número de investigações. O primeiro idioma para o qual se traduziu este livro foi o espanhol, em 1981. Atualmente, a área do comportamento verbal encontra-se no centro de importantes desenvolvimentos na análise do comportamento, no behaviorismo radical e na psicologia científica em geral.
The book Verbal Behavior (1957) was considered by B.F. Skinner as his main contribution to knowledge. Language is the most complex area of human behavior and it has been studied from many perspectives. The book Verbal Behavior was the focus of many controversies and gave origin to a large number of investigations. The first language to which the book was translated was Spanish, in 1981. At the present time the area of verbal behavior is at the center of important developments in behavior analysis, radical behaviorism and in general in scientific psychology.
