ABSTRACT

Heterotopic pancreas can be defined as the occurrence of pancreatic tissue at aberrant anatomic sites that lack vascular, neural and anatomic community with the pancreas. A minority of heterotopic pancreas elicit clinical signs or symptoms that can vary according to its location and size, and the involvement of the overlying mucosa. We report here on a case of heterotopic pancreas that was removed by pancreatoduodenectomy under the erroneous diagnosis of distal common bile duct cancer.

ABSTRACT

Annular pancreas is a rare congenital abnormality characterized by a ring of pancreatic tissue encircling the second portion of the duodenum, and it is definitively diagnosed by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. We present here a case of annular pancreas that was diagnosed by the minimum intensity projection technique of multidetector row CT. On the CT scan, the annular pancreas was demonstrated as the pancreatic tissue with an aberrant pancreatic duct encircling the duodenum.

ABSTRACT

Pancreatic tuberculosis is very rare, though dissemination to the gastrointestinal tract and mesenteric lymph nodes is common. We describe a case of pancreatic tuberculosis presenting as a cystic mass in the pancreatic head, with biliary obstruction, in a patient with miliary pulmonary tuberculosis. Surgery for the curative treatment of jaundice was performed, and the histopathologic findings indicated that a pancreatic abscess with caseous necrosis was present, consistent with tuberculosis.

ABSTRACT

Congenital short pancreas due to agenesis of its body and tail of the pancreas results from defectivedevelopment of part of the dorsal primordium. We describe the ERCP and CT features of this rare condition, whichis associated with acute pancreatitis.

ABSTRACT

Annular pancreas divisum is a very rare congenital anomaly involving the coexistence of an annular pancreas and pancreatic divisum in one pancreas, and showing characteristic radiologic findings of ring-like pancreatic tissue surrounding the second portion of the duodenum and no evidence of connection between ventral and dorsalductal systems. We described the radiologic findings of annular pancreas divisum, diagnosed by hypotonic duodenography, CT and ERCP.
