ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the application effect of paper review combined with situational exercise in the standardized training and teaching of ophthalmology nurses. Methods:A total of 39 ophthalmology nurses who received standardized training from September 2019 to July 2020 were selected as control group, and 42 ophthalmology nurses who received standardized training from September 2020 to July 2021 were selected as study group. The nurses in the control group received traditional teaching, and those in the study group received teaching with paper review and situational exercise. The two groups were compared in terms of the scores of theoretical knowledge and operation skills, comprehensive qualities (autonomous learning ability, independent analysis and problem-solving ability, nurse-patient communication ability, organization and coordination ability, and comprehensive first aid ability) before and after teaching, and the degree of satisfaction with teaching. SPSS 26.0 was used to perform the independent samples t-test, the paired t-test, the chi-square test, and the rank sum test. Results:After standardized training, compared with the control group, the study group had significantly higher scores of theoretical knowledge (93.29±1.82 vs. 90.36±1.51, P<0.05) and operation skills (95.14±1.34 vs. 92.62±1.26, P<0.05). After standardized training, both groups had significant increases in the scores of autonomous learning ability, independent analysis and problem-solving ability, nurse-patient communication ability, organization and coordination ability, and comprehensive first aid ability, and the study group had significantly higher scores of these comprehensive qualities than the control group ( P<0.05). There was a significant difference in the distribution of the degree of satisfaction with teaching between the two groups ( P<0.05), and the study group had a significantly higher degree of satisfaction than the control group. Conclusion:Paper review combined with situational exercise can improve the specialized theoretical knowledge, technical operational level, and comprehensive qualities of ophthalmology nurses receiving standardized training and enhance the degree of satisfaction with teaching.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To respond to the national requirements on the construction of research integrity, and improve the capacity building of research integrity at hospitals. Methods:Dealing with research integrity problems identified at hospital before 2018, measurements that include " policy and procedures development, standardization of the management of scientific research activities, and optimizing the scientific and technological evaluation system" were adopted to promote the construction of research integrity. Such corrective activities were monitored to summarize experiences and lessons for the continuing improvement of research integrity construction. Results:Both " heteronomy" and " self-discipline" of research integrity have been sublimated simultaneously, at the same time, a tailored research integrity management system with the characteristics of local hospitals has been established. Conclusions:Updating institutional policy and procedures, taking paper management as a priority, as well as research integrity training, these measurements played important roles in promoting the research integrity capacity building at hospitals.

ABSTRACT

AIM:To investigate the effect of case-based learning ( CBL) teaching combination with paper review method in the teaching of ophthalmology residents. ·METHODS:The study was conducted from 2015 to 2016. The residents in Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Affiliated Sixth People's Hospital were included in the research. During the year of 2015, the traditional lecture-based learning ( LBL) method was applied (as a control group). During the year of 2016, the CBL teaching combination with paper review teaching method was applied (as an experimental group). At the end of the course, exams and questionnaires were conducted to evaluate the teaching effect of two different methods. The exams consisted of theoretical and operational assessment. The teaching satisfactions, learning interests, scientific research interests and clinical abilities were included in the questionnaires. The data was analyzed by SPSS 16. 0. ·RESULTS:The results of final exams indicated that the scores of the experimental group (88. 2±6. 5) were higher than the control group ( 75. 6 ± 6. 0 ). The difference showed statistically significant (t=6. 68, P<0. 05). The results of questionnaires indicated that students showed much more satisfied with CBL teaching combination with paper review teaching method ( 91%) than traditional teaching method (50%, x2 =8. 84, P<0. 05). Students in the experimental group improved learning interest ( x2 =6. 29, P<0. 05), increased research interest (x2=4. 54, P<0.05) and approved clinical ability (x2 =4. 25, P<0. 05). The comparison of two groups showed the statistically difference (P<0. 05). ·CONCLUSION: CBL teaching combination with paper review teaching method is beneficial to improve the teaching effect, and it is also beneficial to train residents'clinical skills and research abilities.

ABSTRACT

The subjects in this study were the directors in charge of article inspection from 127 academies that are registered with the Korea Academy of Medical Science. After a questionnaire was prepared covering the examination process, judging committee organization, problems with examination and possible reform measures, a survey was conducted by e-mail and facsimile from October 4 through 20, 2001. The responses from 79 academies were gathered, a response rate of 62.2%, and the collected data were analyzed with SAS. The most common examination process was C type, which convenes publishing committees, employed by 59 academies_(74.6%), and these institutes found it satisfactory. Thirty-four academies_(43.0%) had 10 to 19 judges, and these judges were separately in charge of different fields, whereas 79 academies_(77.3%) allocated five or less judges to each field. Thirty_(38.0%) academies had their judges comply with related official directions or guidelines, and 50 academies_(63.3%) conducted investigation just twice. Fifty-four academies_(68.4%) weren't satisfied with their examination process. As for the problems with the examination process, many_(41.8%) pointed out that it's time-consuming work and that a lot of procedures were repeated. Concerning the benefit of the online examination program, 41 academies_(51.9%) thought that it was more efficient and less time-consuming. Forty-one academies_(51.9%) were aware of the online examination program, but only 23 academies_(29.1%) were willing to use it. In order to realize an online paper review, there should be appropriate criteria and guidelines for the construction of an online paper review system that suits various types of paper review process employed by the academies. The usability of online information and technology for more efficient and higher-quality judgment should be widely be publicized, and consideration should be given for the types of paper review system that might be suitable for those who are neither aware of the use of the internet nor willing to utilize.
