ABSTRACT

U.rhynchophylla is an important herb in Chinese medical treasure with the functions of calming endogenous wind and arresting convulsion,clearing away heat and calming the liver,for the treatments of hypertension,epilepsy and convulsion,crying with fear in children.This paper retrieved and collated 3,304 items of application information in the invention patents over uncaria before July,2016.Data of the basic sciences were collected from Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) and those of situation analysis of patents from Patent Online Analysis System of Chinese Academy of Sciences.Year,region,patented technology,patentee and key technology were involved and analyzed in the system for profound investigation of the current situation and developing trend of invention patent application over uncaria.It was found that trace elements and chemical composition beneficial to human health were receiving favors from the market with rapt attention focusing on patent applications.However,there were still major limitations in the application and the patent quality needed improving.In conclusion,further development and the utilization of uncaria presented promising prospects.

ABSTRACT

In order to provide a reference for the future development, the development status of Dioscoreae Rhizoma (also called Chinese yam) has been analyzed in the view of invention patent. We made the use of Espacenet and World Traditional Medicine Patent Database to collect patent information at first. Then we performed a series of process on the collected dataset, including screening, sorting, statistics, analysis, and visualization, with the help of Python, R, SQLite, and other tools. We got the development status information of Chinese yam that reflected in patent data, involving situation, trends, international structure, function preferences, and compatibility preferences. In the perspective of patents, Chinese yam is currently in the early stages of development-term, the development space is huge for future. Chinese mainland has invested a lot in the research of Chinese yam, comparing with other regions in the world. Chinese mainland owns the major part of international patent applications. The U.S. is the most attractive region for the applicants. Chinese yam is usually used in the treatment of digestive diseases, metabolic diseases, and systemic protection or anti-depress, detailed use includes helping digestion, treatment of hyperglycemia, and enhancing immunity. The ideal in common compatibility herbs is Gan-Wen-Yi-Qi, Bu-Pi-Yi-Qi, and others.

ABSTRACT

Ginkgo bilobaL. is one of the most common used medicinal plants worldwide. The mainly medicinal parts are dry leaf and dry seed. Root and stem also have medicinal value. It has been only found in the wild in Tianmu Mountain, Zhejiang Province, China, while cultivated in a much wider area. Since ginkgo is an important plant resources, a comprehensive overview is necessary, which can help understand the current status and the development trends. In this study, the patent information fromEspacenet and World Traditional Medicine Databaseis used to outline the technology development of ginkgo in the perspective of invention patents. The results showed that ginkgo development currently in the early or mid-term maturity period. Ginkgo got the best development in China. Most international exchange of intellectual property happened in United States. More attention has been paid to the development ofG. biloba leaf. Ginkgo’s medicinal application and compatibility were also analyzed in this study.

ABSTRACT

DPP-4 inhibitors are new oral hypoglycemic drugs and hot spots developed and launched in recent years, and they pro-vide new choices for the clinical treatment of type 2 diabetes. In China, DPP-4 inhibitors that are approved to use in the treatment of type 2 diabetes are all imported products currently. In the paper, the current intellectual property situation of DPP-4 inhibitors that are developed and approved at home and abroad is researched and analyzed. Reasonable use of the patent information of DPP-4 inhibitors that is about to expire or have failed can provide good guidance for the subsequent development of DPP-4 inhibitors in domestic with promising curative effect and good market prospects, and can generate new patents in order to enhance the market competitiveness.

After the antidepressant patents were retrieved from Innography, their distribution, R& D level, hot spots and core patents were analyzed , which showed that the largest number of antidepressant patents was produced in USA, the medicinal preparations containing organic active ingredients were the hot spots, the technological and economic strengths of Pfizer, Novo and Sanofi-Aventis were relatively tremendous.The law-suited patents, reex-amined patents and patent strength were mined.

ABSTRACT

El pasado siglo demostró que la capacidad de innovación tecnológica de un país se ha convertido en un factor determinante en sus resultados socioeconómicos. Esta situación, entre otras causas, ha propiciado una fuerte tendencia a realizar análisis con diferentes fuentes de información especializadas, con la intención de lograr por medio de ellos una orientación para obtener innovaciones aún más exitosas y radicales. Entre estas fuentes de información se distinguen, con gran protagonismo, los documentos de patentes. La consulta y análisis con técnicas métricas de la información contenida en las patentes se ha transformado en una de las principales herramientas para modelar los escenarios tecnológicos de países, empresas, institutos de investigación, temáticas, proyectos, etcétera. Con el empleo de una serie de indicadores métricos es posible identificar patrones y tendencias a partir de la evidencia tecnológica disponible y detectar posibles redes sociales encubiertas de innovación con diferentes comportamientos en la investigación, con vista, entre otras funciones, a la toma de decisiones oportunas si esta lo requiere. Para ilustrar el procedimiento, se utilizó un caso práctico: el proyecto “Composición química de la madera, la corteza y el follaje de tres especies de eucaliptos de la provincia de Pinar del Río”. Se emplearon los registros de patentes de la base de datos de Estados Unidos como fuente de información y se procesaron con una herramienta propia, desarrollada por la Universidad de Pinar del Río y Ucinet, un software para representar las posibles redes existentes. Los resultados obtenidos posibilitaron reorientar las investigaciones hacia aspectos más prometedores.


The last century demonstrated that a country’s capacity of technological innovation has become a decisive factor of its socio-economical results. This state of affairs, among other causes, has brought about a strong tendency towards the analysis of different specialized information sources, with the intention of setting a course towards even more radical and successful innovations. Among these information sources, patent documents stand out as main protagonists. The analysis with metric techniques of the information contained in the patents has become one of the main tools for the modeling of the technological scenarios of countries, enterprises, research institutes, subject matters, projects, etcetera. Based on the use of a series of metric indicators, it is possible to identify patterns and tendencies, with the available technological evidence, as well as to detect possible unidentified innovation social webs with a different investigative behavior, which is useful for, among other functions, the making of opportune decisions if the investigation so requires. To illustrate this project was used a practical case: the project: Chemical Composition of the Wood, Bark and Foliage of Three Species of Eucalyptus in the Province of Pinar del Río. The records of patents from the United States database were used as information source, and processed with a tool of our own, developed by the University of Pinar del Río and Ucinet, a software to represent the possibly existing webs. The obtained results made possible the reorientation of the research towards more promising aspects.
