ABSTRACT
Objective:Take all hospitals in Hubei Province as an example to analyze the patent application and authorization status of hospitals, to make recommendations for hospital patent management.Methods:Use patentics platform to search domestic patent applications of all hospitals in Hubei Province, data regarding to the number and types of patents were classified and analyzed.Results:Hospitals in Hubei Province had 7 694 patent applications and 6 491 authorized patent. Patent applications showed a growth trend; the types of patents were mainly utility models, followed by invention patents; patent IPC classification was concentrated in technical fields such as A61 and G01; the effective patents accounted for relatively low, and the subsequent maintenance work was poor.Conclusions:Hospitals should improve the innovation ability of medical staff and mobilize the enthusiasm of patent applications; strengthen the process management of patent applications and focus on improving the quality of patents; increase investment in technology field with advantage and pay more attention to the identification and transformation of high-value patents; improve the services quality of hospital patent management departments, cultivate patent management talents.

Objective@#To investigate the status of patent knowledge awareness and applications, and analyze influencing factors among scientific researchers in tertiary hospitals in Nanjing, to provide reference for enhancing the intellectual property right awareness and technological innovation of the hospitals.@*Methods@#A questionnaire survey was conducted with cluster stratified random sampling among scientific researchers at 10 tertiary hospitals in Nanjing in May 2018. The frequency and percentage of the enumeration data were evaluated by chi-square, CMH chi-square, and Fisher′s exact test, rank sum test was used for ranked data, and multi-factor logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of patent application.@*Results@#In this survey, 34.16% of scientific researchers were highly familiar with patent knowledge, and 36.63% were familiar basically. The awareness rate of hospital management system was 49.75% and patent application rate was 51.98%. The influencing factors of patent application included hospital type, specialty, professional title, and the familiarity with patent-related knowledge.@*Conclusions@#Currently, the knowledge awareness of patents is insufficient among the researchers in tertiary hospitals in Nanjing, and the rate of patent application is also low. Therefore, the hospitals should take the problems more seriously by setting up a patent department, for training researchers, and strengthening the management of patents.

Patent competition has become one of the key issues of global competitions in economy,science and technology. In hospitals, the patent management strategy provides guidance for and impels knowledge innovation. However, hospital management is quite weak in China, which may have been caused by various reasons, such as the over enthusiasm for published paper and the technological achievement contrasted with negligence in patent application and exploitation. In the paper, countermeasures are proposed,which include the whole process management during the scientific research, setting up detail targets and standard procedures for patent management, training patent management staff, et al.

By reviewing the status of domestic intellectual property right and patent in particular the authors pointed out that the key of increasing the number of patents and patent quality is to promote the trans formation of research achievements and the management of research achievements.Based on the framework scheme of the transformation chain of research achievements.four major stages of patent management were described，which contained ①the planning and design of patent index in the initial management of research achievement，②the forming and outputting of patents in the management of the formation of research a chievement and patent forming，③implementing and industrialization of patents in the stage of industrializing of research achievement and patent，④realizing the maximum efficiency of patents and establishing patent net in the stage of research extension and patent implementing.
