ABSTRACT

According to the three orientation cultivating mode,in order to improve quality of experiment teaching in pathogen biology and cultivate innovative talents of medicine the open experi-ment teaching which based on the research projects is applied to optimize the experiment content design, teaching form and comprehensive assessment. For example, In the choice of subject direction more attention are paid to the students' autonomy; In the design of experiment content students' inter-ests should be fully considered;During the course of experiments, the teachers play the role of visitors most of the time; In the experiment evaluation, students' ability of solving problems and their innova-tive ability are included. By participating in research projects, it not only can arouse the enthusiasm of students, but also can cultivate their scientific spirit of innovation and the rigorous scientific attitude.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the practice effect of problem-based learning(PBL) in teaching of pathogen biology and immunology at college level.Methods Three-year clinical majors of class 1 and 2 in Luohe Medical College were chose,class 1 as PBL experimental group(n=100) and class 2 as control group(n=100).Chapter of hepatitis virus was taught respectively using PBL and LBL teaching method.Teaching effect was evaluated by test and questionnaire.Teaching effects between PBL and LBL were compared.SPSS 13.0 was used to do statistical analysis and data were expressed as percentage.Chi-square test was performed and P<0.05 shows statistically significant differences.Results Results of test showed that excellent and passing rates were higher in PBL group than in LBL group(P=0.000) ; flunked rate was lower in PBL group than in LBL group(P=0.000).Results of questionnaire showed that more than 80% students thought that PBL can mobilize students' initiatives of learning,train cooperation consciousness and enhance language skills,etc.Conclusions PBL can be used in pathogen biology and immunology for 3-year clinical majors and deserves further application.

ABSTRACT

Pathogen biology is a main course of curricula in medical university.In developing quality courses,we optimized Pathogen biology course content,created the PBL teaching mode suitable for this course,set up network teaching platform,enhanced teachers' qualification,constructed comprehensive and exploratory experiment teaching system,wrote new teaching syllabus and other measures,made the Pathogen biology course construction more reasonable and perfect.

It is a great boost to the deep studies of pathogen biology in diagnosis,treatment,pathogenesis,prevention and epidemiology.
