ABSTRACT

Objective To research and design-an personal dosimeter system to provide data for nuclear radiation injury protection. Methods The overall architecture, hardware module and software of the system were designed with ZigBee wireless network technology and the principle. The system was composed of a terminal node,a router and a coordinator. Results The system could collect the information on nuclear radiation dosage of the serviceman within 1 km,and then the data were uploaded with the wireless network. Conclusion The system gains advantages in low power consumption, low cost, low interference and etc,and plays a very important role for commander to hold the combatants' nuclear radiation dose in the battlefield. In addition the system can also be applied in civilian field to enhance the personal dose management.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To complete experiments of the energy response compensation for three semiconductor personal dosimeters in order to meet the requirements of IEC and National Standard. Methods: In Beijing SSDL, the semiconductor detectors were covered by the different thicknesses of Pb and Sn additional filters with several diameter holes to compensate the dosimeters’ energy response. Results: At the 50 keV-Cs-137 energy range, the measuring error of dosimeters is met within 30% of energy response. Conclusion:By the compensation of combined Pb and Sn filters with a hole, the semiconductor personal dosimeters can be used for radiation monitoring.

ABSTRACT

Objective To increase externally-assigned response, improve energy response of CR39 and develop positive fast/thermal neutron personal dosimeter applicable for occupational exposure in oil and gas field logging by using pre-recoil layer. Methods The externally-assigned response of CR39 detector was improved through increasing the track density by using the α particle induced by the reaction of 10B(n,α) 7Li with the BN as pre-recoil layer, and the increase was vilified by using both Monte-Carlo simulation and experiment exposed by standard neutron source. Results Fast/thermal neutron personal dosimeter's neutron flux sensitivity and neutron dose equivalent sensitivity were 3.46 × 10-4 track per 0.013 and 52.8 mSv.According to theoretical derivation and experiment of standard 241 Am-Be neutron source, detecting efficiency and energy response of CR39 were effectively improved, and quantitative measurement of dose contributed by thermal neutron was realized. Conclusions CR39 fast/thermal neutron personal dosimeter of high sensitivity is applicable to oil and gas field logging environment and of potential development.
