ABSTRACT

A field experiment was conducted to measure the physiological characteristics, yield, active ingredient content, and other indicators of Carthamus tinctorius leaves undergoing 13 sowing date treatments. The principal component analysis(PCA) and redundancy analysis were used to analyze the correlation between these indicators to explore the effect of sowing date on the yield and active ingredient content of C. tinctorius in Liupanshan of Ningxia. The results illustrated that the early sowing in autumn and spring had significant effects on leaf photosynthetic parameters, SPAD value, antioxidant enzyme activity, nitrogen metabolism enzyme activity, filament yield, grain yield, and hydroxy safflower yellow A(HYSA) of C. tinctorius. Sowing in mid-November and late March had the best effect. Leaf transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, nitrate reductase, nitrite reductase, glutamine synthetase, and glutamate synthase increased by 44.9%, 52.4%, 15.9%, 60.8%, 10.3%, and 38.3%, respectively. The activities of superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and catalase decreased by 10.8%, 4.1%, and 20.9%, respectively. The improvement of photosynthetic physiological characteristics promoted the dry matter accumulation and reproductive growth of C. tinctorius. The yield of filaments and seeds increased by 15.5% and 11.7%, and the yield of HYSA and kaempferol increased by 17.9% and 20.0%. In short, the suitable sowing date can promote the growth and development of C. tinctorius in Liupanshan of Ningxia, and significantly improve the yield and quality, which is conducive to the high quality and efficient production of C. tinctorius.

ABSTRACT

Bianzheng was a special gasification law, closely related to metabolism Physiologically. The children's Bianzheng was the internal basis for sound physical and mental development and the dynamic balance of the five internal organs. As to the pathology, children's Bianzheng disorders had an adverse effect on the body. The ancient books found that children's Bianzheng disorders were closely related to the dysfunction of liver and spleen. It was manifested as malnutrition, developmental disorders, and even metabolic syndrome in adulthood. The principle of soothing the liver, relieving depression and strengthening the spleen were proposed to treat the metabolic syndrome, in order to enrich the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theoretical understanding of the metabolic syndrome. The prevention and treatment ideas provide theoretical reference.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo study the effects of different plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) on the growth of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis seedlings and the quality of its medicinal parts, in order to provide reference for the cultivation of high-quality P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. MethodThe pot culture experiment at room temperature and the single-factor completely random design were employed for exploring the effects of five PGPR on physiological characteristics and inorganic elements of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis. ResultThe results showed that the exogenous inoculation of different PGPR promoted the growth and development of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis to varying degrees, delayed the senescence of leaves, and improved the medicinal value of new and old rhizomes. Compared with the non-inoculated control, the exogenous inoculation of compound microbial fertilizer (FH) and microbial agent Sanju Guanjin liquid (SJ) enhanced the root vigor, increased the content of photosynthetic pigments and the activities of anti-oxidant enzymes [superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and peroxidase (POD)], and reduced the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) in leaves. Their inhibition rates against MDA were 10.46%-39.62% and 20.99%-53.12%, respectively. With the growth of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis, the inhibition rate against MDA gradually increased, which effectively delayed the senescence of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis leaves. In addition, the exogenous inoculation of different PGPR promoted the accumulation of nutrient elements in new and old rhizomes, lowered the heavy metal content to varying degrees, and improved the medicinal value of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis rhizomes. ConclusionFH and SJ have exhibited the best promoting effect on the growth of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis seedlings and also the best regulatory effect on the medicinal value of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis rhizomes, which has provided reference for the application and promotion of PGPR in the growth of P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis.

[Objective] Summarizing Professor FAN Yongsheng's experience in treating children's erythema multiforme.[Method] Collecting medical record from outpatient clinics, to analyze and summarize Professor FAN Yongsheng's understanding of children's erythema multiforme and experience of children's erythema multiforme syndrome differentiation and treatment. [Result] Professor FAN Yongsheng considers the disease is caused by children's spleen qi deficiency and suffering external-contraction at the same time. The characteristics of pathogenesis are "deficiency" "heat" and "static blood" by generalizing. According to the degree of suffering pathogenic qi, the disease can be divided into three stages including spathogenic qi, s incursion in exterior, exuberant blood heat and damage to qi-yin. The treatment can respectively base on dispersing exterior pathogenic qi and cleaning interior heat, or base on cooling blood and eliminating toxins, dispersing blood stasis and removing ecchymosis, or base on reinforcing spleen and stomach, clearing qi aspect and nourishing yin. Professor FAN through the pediatric physiological characteristics and erythema multiforme disease associated with the combination of the idea of treating patients, has achieved satisfactory clinical efficacy.[Conclusion] Professor FAN Yongsheng's treatment experience of children's erythema multiforme has satisfactory clinical efficacy and is worth to use for reference and promotion.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To find get the method of alleviating salinity damage to Coptis chinensis under NaCl stress by studying the seed generation and seedling physiological nature. Methods: Several physiological indexes such as germination vigor, germination rate, germination index, and vigor parameters of C. chinensis were measured after treated by 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) under salt stress (NaCl with the concentration of 100 mmol∙L-1 NaCl). And other parameters such as memberane permeability, H2O2 content, production rate of superoxide anion, contents of soluble surge, soluble protein, free proline, and malondialdehyde (MDA), and activities of superoxide (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) were also measured. Results: The seed germination indexes of C. chinensis under NaCl stress have an obvious inhibition. But after the treatment of ALA, germination indexes were all increased. The results also showed that the treatment of exogenous ALA obviously increased the contents of soluble sugars, free proline, and soluble protein, decreased the contents of MDA, H2O2, and production rate of superoxide anion. Meanwhile, the results also indicated that ALA could improve the activities of SOD, POD, CAT, and APX. Conclusion: Exogenous ALA with appropriate concentration could significantly alleviate the damages to the seeds and seedlings of C. chinensis under NaCl stress and promote the salt resistance of the seeds and seedlings through improving the germination indexes and activities of anti-oxidase, decreasing the memberane permeability, and so on.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To compare the effects of Na2CO3 and NaCl + Na2CO3 at different concentration on the seed germination and seedling physiological characteristics of Astraglus membranaceus var. mongholicus, analyze the stress degrees of the both two on A. membranaceus var. mongholicus, and search for the effective ways for improving the resistance of seeds and seedlings under salt stress. Methods: Several physiological indexes of A. membranaceus var. mongholicus seeds under different salt treatments, such as the germination vigor (Gv), germination rate (Gr), relative germination rate, and relative salt damage rate were measured. And other indexes of the seedlings like chlorophyll contents, soluble protein contents, the contents of malondialdehyde (MDA), the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), and peroxidase (POD) were also measured. Results: Na2CO3 and NaCl + Na2CO3 at lower concentration could promote the seed germination but inhibit the seed germination at higher concentration. The inhibition was increased with the concentration increasing. The germination indexes of each treatment had the significant differences compared with the control (P < 0.05). With the salt concentration increasing, the contents of chlorophyll and the soluble protein decreased, which was negatively correlated with the concentration. The content of MDA was increased and positively correlated with the concentration. The change trend of SOD activity showed the first increase and then decreased with the salt concentration increasing, which was similar to that of POD. The activities of both SOD and POD reached the peak at 50 mmol/L. Conclusion: The stress of NaCl + Na2CO3 is higher than that of Na2CO3 on the seeds and seedlings of A. membranaceus var. mongholicus.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the psycho-physiological characteristics of experimental tonic cold and heat pain in a behavioral study. Methods Sixty healthy subjects went through the tonic cold and tonic heat stimulation in a counter-balanced order. Psychological traits were measured before the experiment. Pain intensity ratings were recorded together with continuous Infrared thermal imaging recording. SF-MPQ was employed to assess pain intensity and affective measures. Results Anxiety and fear were positively correlated with cold pain intensity on SF-MPQ,while GESE was negatively correlated with that of heat pain (r =0.57,P <0.05; r =0.45,P <0.05,respectively). Verbal descriptors chosen from SF-MPQ for cold and heat pain significantly differed(χ2=18.6,P =0.04). Infrared thermal imaging results showed after stimulation, heat pain intensity ratings decreased simultaneously with skin surface temperature recovery to baseline. In contrast, skin surface temperature began to return to baseline well before the cold sensation began to diminish(t =34.57,P <0.05; t =23.66,P <0.05). Conclusion Experimental tonic cold and heat pain are not psychophysically identical, but may be predicted by different psychological traits, and may reside in differential peripheral and central processing in human.
