The overall level of filial piety was negatively correlated with the level of anxiety (r=-0.403, P<0.01), and the level of filial piety is an independent factor affecting the level of anxiety in adults(B=-0.299,P<0.01). Other factors also include the quality of sleep, illness, duration, beliefs, occupational stability. Conclusion The high level of filial piety in adults is moderately correlated with anxiety and is an independent risk factor for anxiety in this population. The adult's education of filial piety should be strengthened and the positive adjustment of filial piety to anxiety should be strengthened in order to better solve the physical and mental health problems caused by the pension burden.

ABSTRACT

" Filial piety" is China's traditional culture. It not only educates the offspring to be grateful and to repay good deeds, but more importantly guides people to take up social responsibilities and obligations. However, there are always contradiction dilemmas between loyalty and filial piety in reality. With the change of the times, this kind of contradiction is getting more prominent.Rethinking the choice of " raising the children but not provi-ding for the elderly" or choosing for helplessness, the causes of which include: the development of medical technol-ogy aggravates the contradiction between the ability and the cost of providing for the elderly, the contradiction be-tween the prolongation of the life of the elderly and the limitation of their children's ability to support them; Chi-na's one-child policy for more than 30 years has weakened the support capacity of the offspring; urban develop-ment leads to population migration and challenges family pension; the instability of family structure affects providing for the elderly; social pension is inadequately prepared and so on.To guarantee intergenerational equity and im-prove people's quality of life,it should advocate the scientific view of providing for the elderly, which must respect the elderly's autonomy, improve and promote the assessment and supervision of basic needs such as living will, hospice care, and medical abandonment.Through carrying out relevant research,it should establish a systematic project of good Chinese-style scientific pension and improve the social pension security system.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to tap the influence of the childhood and adolescent family environment and biogenetic temperament/character on the filial piety profile, i.e., its behavioral and emotional aspects in Korean college students. METHODS: Ninety-eight college students(male=49, female=49, the main study group) in the Seoul Metropolitan area were selected using multi-stage(randomized) cluster procedures. Their parents(N=174) became the 'generation' comparison group. The Filial Piety Scale was used to evaluate the perception of filial piety, both in 13 individual items and in two factor-analytically- produced behavioral and emotional aspects of filial piety. The Family Environment Scale was used to evaluate the childhood and adolescent family environment. The Temperament and Character Inventory was used to assess biogenetic temperament and character of the study subjects. RESULTS: Parents of college students scored significantly higher on filial piety items of familial harmony, responsibility/obligation, sacrifice, compensation, neighborhood harmony, and family continuity than their offspring did. There were no significant differences between study subjects and their parents in perceiving their family environment. Childhood environment with high moralethical emphasis and high achievement orientation was significantly correlated with the behavioral aspect of filial piety whereas cohesive and expressive family environment was shown to be linked to the emotional aspect of filial piety. Regarding the biogenetic temperament/character-filial piety relationship, low self-directedness was positively correlated with behavioral aspect of filial piety while high cooperativeness was positively correlated with emotional aspect of filial piety. CONCLUSIONS: This study reports distinct patterns of relationship between childhood family environment and the filial piety profile and between biogenetic temperament/character and the filial piety profile in Korean college students.

ABSTRACT

Filial piety is not only ethical principle but also an ideological manner in traditional Chinese medicine.Filial piety ethics have dual natures. One hand,it propels the development of traditional Chinese medicine, since it is the inherent force of medical research and practice, the source of the TCM thought of respecting life and cherishing human body, the logic basis of the TCM idea that regards medicine as a humanity art,and the ideological basis of innovative practice. On the other hand,it has holdback effect for the development of traditional Chinese medicine since it is the cultural factor for the un-differentiation of Chinese medicine and philosophy, the ethical factor which blocks the development of TCM anatomy, the ideological source for the unbalanced development of TCM basic theory and clinical practice, and the limitation as the unfair basis for the ideological idea that regards medicine as a humanity art.
